Suspend Non-essential US Gov't Operations(Vanity)
9-25-08 | Me

I was just thinking during my haze before the morning Joe kicks in.

If the US Gov't, Bush and Congress thinks saving the faltering banks and such is of such high priority and the dollar looks to take a major hit then they should do what is right, temporarily suspend all non-essential government agencies to balance the books.

No foodstamps, no welfare, no department of education, interior, no anything that is not pertinent to the stability to the nation.

TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS: bailout; dollar
Just thinking.

If we could suspend them, we’d just get rid of them.

To the left, handouts and “entitlements” are the only purpose of government. Defense of individual rights is an inconvenient side effect that they put up with while they work on getting rid of that (it’s not fair anyway...makes life harder for their constituents).

You may not like welfare and food stamps but you are a fool if you think they are nonessential to millions of people and that the nation will be stable if they are eliminated in 4 days.

Think some more.

You have to realize that everyone of these a$$#ole$ thinks that are each essential. (E.g. all 16,000 or 'em at EPA!)

Hey thanks for your illuminating post, but I was just throwing those out there but hey if you can’t add to it why not just be an ass. That is what some people are best at here.

but the question is...how many of those people collecting food stamps and welfare could i repeat could actually go out and find a job and work rather than live off the system...??....it would sure have an impact in cleaning up the system now wouldn’t it...

We could pay congress commenerate with their approval rating. That would save money.

We could all just change our W-4’s to deprive them of tax money. If 10 million people did this would they get the message when tax in take slowed way down?

The Government would just probably put all the illegals back on the street so they could put US in jail. LOL

"We could pay congress commenerate with their approval rating."

That's such a good idea. I was thinking with all the talk about reducing CEO pay and golden parachutes that since Congress was at least partially responsible for this situation (actually I'd go further, but...) that they should take a pay cut, buy their own health care and forego any pension other than social security and what they can save on their own.

Ya know, kind of like the rest of us.

Six weeks before a major election? What a comedian!

The Dems are perfectly happy to see the US defeated abroad if they can squeeze political benefit from it. They are also perfectly happy to drive the US economy into the toilet for the same reason.
