David Letterman tells audience that McCain called him today to tell him he had to rush back to DC to deal with the economy.
Then in the middle of the taping Dave got word that McCain was, in fact just down the street being interviewed by Katie Couric. Dave even cut over to the live video of the interview, and said, "Hey Senator, can I give you a ride home?"
Earlier in the show, Dave kept saying, "You don't suspend your campaign. This doesn't smell right. This isn't the way a tested hero behaves." And he joked: "I think someone's putting something in his metamucil."
"He can't run the campaign because the economy is cratering? Fine, put in your second string quarterback, Sara Palin. Where is she?"
"What are you going to do if you're elected and things get tough? Suspend being president? We've got a guy like that now!"

There are very few shows I like, but my husband and I enjoyed Jay Leno -- until lately. Last night was the last straw; he had Wanda Sykes on and she literally performed about a 20-minute tirade against McCain and the GOP. It was FILLED with lies and misinformation, and she was never called on it once.
I hate that I cannot watch even the most mindless of TV shows anymore.
“Standards and Practices” doesn’t exist at the networks anymore.
A boycott could work. Bill Maher got tossed on his can when ABCDisney realized the backlash from his braying about how the hijackers weren’t cowards and our troops are for using dropping bombs from the sky.
This not even one week after the 9-11 attacks.
Well Dave, he is a senator and he kind of took an oath to perform the duties of that office so big guy that comes first.

I think Dave made a good suggestion, let Sarah Palin debate Obama. She crushes Obama and McCain still retains his heroic image, and rumors of Sarah Palin being a brainless soccer mom are thus crushed all in one fell swoop.
Why not air the debate and put Barack Obama on opposite Ralph Nader who is also on the ballot for President?

I quit watching both of them years ago. They’re both socialists, although Leno is less so.
I think it looks bad though that he cancelled and then went over to be on Katie Couric’s “news”. Nobody even watches her. He should have just gone back to DC.
I think that’s an excellent idea.
The real secret is that the liberal rich don’t want others to become rich. They know they can evade any new taxes. But they don’t want YOU to join their club.
They are the ones who want to keep the class system. Conservatives would be happy if everyone were rich. Liberals want people to be poor.
If Republicans are the party of the Rich and Democrats are the party of the Poor, which party wants you Rich, and which party wants you Poor?

I think Dave was actually the only one who qualified as a complete idiot there. Imagine a presidential candidate thinking the country’s business is more important than a public promo appearance(what the debates get down to). The nerve!
It's like life. Something that works for a young guy makes an old guy look like a fool.
