the House will elect Bambi after a 269-269 tie.

Not necessarily. Read the 12th Amendment.

Also, McCain is obviously polling much higher in Maine than Bush did. In the final race: “Kerry outpolled Bush statewide and in the 1st Congressional District in southern Maine. But it was too close to call in Maine’s 2nd Congressional District, where the numbers were much closer.”

Bush almost carried the 2nd District in Maine. McCain is likely to carry it.

I count only 21 states with a GOP majority of House Representatives. Two states are tied.

The Dems win a tie vote on a 1-vote-per-state basis

Please excuse my ignorance on this matter...

Would the presidential tiebreaker be the current House of Representatives or the “new” house, after the election?

I'm going to get an ulcer before this is all over with. I see major shifting in some of the polls today for Obama. Now there is a possibility of an electoral tie? All of the negative stuff on this empty suit and there is a possibility of a tie? Are the American people asleep at the wheel?

If it can be settled before January 20, 2009, then the present set of congress critters would vote.

Here’s an interesting twist:

The Senate gets to pick the VP according to the 12th ammendment. I count 17 states with 2 GOP senators and only 16 states with 2 Dem senators. Connecticut and Vermont each have a Dem plus an Independent... Connecticut’s Lieberman would offset Dodd, but Vermont would likely vote for Biden...thus there would be a 17-17 tie. In the case of a tie Dick Cheney would get to pick the next VP.

In the case of a tie it would be Obama as President and Palin as VP! And the VP would be chosen by Cheney!

“Are the American people asleep at the wheel?”

It looks to me like conservatives are asleep at the wheel.

Bernie Sanders will vote for Sarah Palin?

It's more likely that Hillary! would cross the aisle and vote for Palin, it wold fit into her scheme for 2012.

One poll has McCain ahead in MI right now. Let’s not forget that. And I still think McCain will take CO.

I’m not so confident about CO. I think it will go Blue this election. However Penn might just be the big surprise. Our side has a very good chance there and also in Wisconsin.
