Matt Millen is reportedly out as Lions president and general manager.
WDFN-AM in Detroit is reporting that Millen was informed of the decision late Tuesday night.
The move comes just days after Bill Ford Jr., the son of Lions owner William Clay Ford, stated publicly he would have fired Millen if the decision were his.
Millen had been in charge of the Lions since 2001. The team has produced an NFL-worst record of just 31-84 in that time, including 0-3 this season.
The Lions were in postseason contention last year after opening the campaign with a record of 6-2, but they stumbled to seven losses in their last eight games to finish 7-9 -- still the best record in Millen's tenure.
Detroit has been outscored 113-59 in three losses this season heading into this week's bye.
Our Long National Nightmare is Over!
Finally, some good news for MI. I’ll bet things won’t improve much (if at all) though. Just a little bump in the Lions’ 40+ year rebuilding program.
Now they need to try and get Barry Sanders out of retirement!
I wonder what he is going to do with his bike? He painted his custom motorcycle with the Lions' emblem.
And Wayne Fontes (is he still with the living?).
NFL, PING
From the Detroit Free Press:
“People were driving past the team’s Allen Park headquarters, honking their horns and cheering.”
Now the Lions will be good, right? LOL
wo0t!!!
mi ping!
OMG. {angels singing}
We wish Matt Millen well as he pursues other opportunities, and my entire campaign team looks forward to the Nittaly Lions getting back on the winning track!
For the sake of brevity and clarity, I edited out all of Obama’s “uhs” and “ummms” from his statement.

Just a little bump in the Lions 40+ year rebuilding program.
Cleveland must be taking the same NFL speed courses Detroit is taking... “wasting #1 draft picks on stiffs”. And “Interview Crappy coaches and hiring them”. And “Extending the contract of your crappy coach and GM.”
