Dixie, a 15-year-old ginger cat, disappeared in 1999

So, the cat is now 24?

“Dixie, a 15-year-old ginger cat, disappeared in 1999 ... SPCA Animal Collection Officer Alan Pittaway checked her microchip and confirmed it was Dixie.”

I like a happy ending as much as the next person, but did they even have pet microchipping in 1999 (or possibly before)?
