I thought the original was pretty good but had an obvious tho indirect communist/nazi message. In other words if you Earthlings don't behave, we will kill you all for the good of society.

A much better Sci Fi of that period was Fantastic Planet. I tried to order it from Netflix but they listed it as unknown availability.

I made the mistake of watching the extras that came with the DVD. The producer explained that the message was that we were supposed to stop being mean to the Soviet Union - that was then under Stalin - and surrender some of our sovereignty to the UN.
