"I feel good not about the money but about the change of conditions," said Mr Anzures, who has since moved up from dish washer to line cook and who sends most of his money home to his family in Mexico.

If conditions were so bad why not just go back to Mexico? Your money goes there, follow the money.

Had a friend recently visit from Australia. She left a dollar on the table at a restaurant and I replaced it with a $10. She said “Why so much?” and I said “You know they only make like $2 an hour, right?” She was horrified. She thought that minimum wage applied to everyone and that they would at least make that, but more in a nice establishment.

She was trying to figure out everywhere she had eaten since she got here to go back and retip everyone, LOL.

Poor thing. They don’t have tips in Australia. Everything, including taxes are included in the price. I told her they do that so they don’t realize how much they are getting screwed. haha

I always tip in cash and leave it on the table to make sure the waiters and busboys get it, and I leave it up to them as to whether to declare it when they file their taxes.

My mom was a waitress her whole life, tips matter. Especially when your father who is an alcoholic, abuser, does not work. So thanks to all who tip well. My son worked at Sam’s during high school and in the summer from college and he was NOT allow to take tips from customers he helped carry heavy stuff to the car. Most people got upset because they felt it was their right to do what they wanted with their money and made him take the tip.
