Geology Picture of the Week, Sep. 14-20, 2008: Mitchell Falls, Australia (and bonus)

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that this location was in a Crocodile Dundee movie. I don't know if it was, but it sure seems like it could have been.

BTW: Do you know about the geology of this region? i.e. are those rock formations that the water is flowing over ancient lava flows?

I don't know much, but I found a Web site that does:

Geology (Kakadu National Park)

This is the "Kakadu Stone Country", but it doesn't say what the stone is. If I read the geological history on the main page right, these are sandstone escarpments.
