Don’t know about the fort, but the I like the golf course (cheap and great cheeseburgers)!

As the climate was changing, they could adapt. Instead of engaging in warfare, these people were working in harmony.

The Shawnee were Obama'ites?

In any event "climate change" preceded western industrialization. Man was NOT the cause.

If this was done between 0 and 500 AD, it wouldn’t have been Shawnee doing it. Possibly Hopewell or Adena.

Hummm...The conclusions being offered certainly fit the PC profile in every respect. I predict more grant money for these guys.

“What they found actually offers great insight into the cultural priorities of the Shawnee – the incredible amounts of human labor that went into building the earthworks were done for agricultural purposes, not military. The earthworks were not a fort, but a water management system of dams and canals built to counter the impact of long-term drought.”

OMG!! Don’t tell the ‘modern tribes’ about this! They’re doing their best to take out anything that looks like damn.
To hear them tell it, their ‘enviro friendly’ ancestors could have never taken part in building a dam!
