My Son Enlisted into the USMC on 9/11/2008
Vanity

Posted on 09/12/2008 8:12:56 AM PDT by Don'tMessWithTexas

Yesterday, my son raised his right hand and swore to defend this country in the Marine Corps with tears running down his face.

My son was welcomed into the Marine family family were congratulated by SgtMaj. Brad Kasel, recipient of the Navy Cross for Action in Iraq.

At the end of the time with the SgtMaj, my wife told him about politics, McCain/Palin and that I was a freeper. Unexpectedly, he gave me a personal copy of his book, "My Men Are My Heroes".

Quite a day.

A proud day for you I’m sure. Though I never had the privilege of serving in our nation’s armed forces, I would be beside myself with pride if one of my children so chose.

Congratulations to you and your son. I can only imagine how proud you must be.

My nephew is a marine, who had two tours in Iraq, and is now safely home. We are so very proud of this fine young man, I can't tell you.

For anyone not familiar with SgtMaj Kasal, he's the guy in the middle in this photo. What he's got in him at this point is a half-dozen bullets and several dozen pieces of shrapnel. What he doesn't have in him at this point is nearly two-thirds of his blood.

I’m sure you’re very proud and a bit concerned at the same time. Everyone here appreciates his service to the country and we pray for his safety. Kick Ass Marine!

God Bless him and you too for raising him right! It probably goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway) that you let your son know how proud we are and that all FReeperdom has his back.

May Ike also take note of your screen name and not mess with Texas.
