A man called in to Rush's show today and related a fantastic story. The caller has a five-year-old Down's Syndrome child and went to a rally with his family.
They had a sign that referred to Down's Syndrome. He said that Palin saw the sign from the campaign bus and gave them the thumbs up.
The family was excited about the recognition. A little while later the secret service asked if the family if they would come with them.
The secret service agents took the entire family over to the bus and both McCain and Palin talked to the family. Palin asked if she could hold the Down's Syndrome child and did.
The caller said that they seemed like ordinary people and was amazed at how friendly and authentic they were.
Rush asked the caller to email the pictures, so, hopefully they'll be on his website soon.
This might seem like a stupid post, but, with all the vitriolic criticism coming from the MSM directed toward Palin, I thought it was so exhilarating to hear the truth about this incredible woman.
You bet! Enjoy your evening. :)
Shoot, I’d enjoy telling it. And telling it. And telling it some more. It would be my claim to fame. I could get five years (actually, more considering Palin’s two terms as President) of story-telling out of the event. Ole Sarah and Me! The Time We Met Sarah! Sarah Palin Kissed My Child!
Yup. That would be one for the family story collection!
And those poll numbers for McCain and Palin continue to grow.
I hope they keep the candidates together for a few more days before campaigning on their own.
For every story you hear like this there are thousands who simply live life without complaint or tooting their own horn. It is a breath of fresh air to hear future VP Palin speak so nice of special needs parents and their families.
There’s a thread saying that McCain-PALIN has a 20-point lead in North Carolina.
I am sure the media will classify this as a "Statistical Dead Heat"
“My eyes have watered more in the last two weeks”
You too? My mom and I become emotional, at times, when talking about her and especially discussing all the attacks on her and her family.
We’re starting to feel silly about it. :)

You too? My mom and I become emotional, at times, when talking about her and especially discussing all the attacks on her and her family. Some of it is the rage we feel towards the media and blogs.

I got choked up during her acceptance speech when she looked right into the camera and said to the parents of special needs “You will not only have a friend in the WH, but an advocate”.
[snork]
Big deal, Obama saw a woman with a sign that said “I’ve had lots of abortions,” and invited her into his bus.
I’ll bet Secret Service just absolutely loves that part of their job.
As long as we’re picking nits, it’s generally considered better to refer to a child with a medical condition as a child with a medical condition, with the emphasis on “child” rather than the condition. So it would be “a child with Down Syndrome’, as opposed to “a Down Syndrome child”.
Neither this word arrangement nor the possessive on the word “Down” are something anyone should get concerned about-nobody should be that over-sensitive, but it’s considered more polite to say it that way.
There’s so much stuff on Rush’s page I can’t begin to find the pics that were supposed to be posted. Is there a link?
It’s a good story. Positivity is never a stupid thing to spread around.
Its a great post..thanks for doing it.
WRONG! This is a great post. Thank you for posting it. FR is a community that enjoys little stories like this that make you feel good knowing that people who say and do the same thing are classy and worth voting for.
I heard the same story on Hannity’s show as well. Great story and worth sharing.
