This is an email I received from a good friend in New York City. She is a Bryn Mawr graduate, and is a physician currently engaged in cancer research at Columbia University. This is an email she received from a Bryn Mawr classmate of hers who lives in Alaska.
Because you, like me, may never have heard of Sarah Palin until today, you may find this an interesting perspective from an Alaskan resident.

Dear classmates -
As an Alaskan, I am writing to give all of you some information on Sarah Palin, Senator McCain's choice for VP. As an Alaska voter, I know more than most of you about her and, frankly, I am horrified that he picked her.
The most accurate description of her is red neck. Her husband works in the oil fields of Prudhoe Bay and races snow mobiles. She is a life time member of the NRA and has worked tirelessly to allow indiscriminate hunting of wildlife in Alaska, particularly wolves and bears. She has spent millions of Alaska state dollars on aerial hunting of these predators from helicopters and airplanes, dollars that should have been spent, for example, on Alaska's failing school system. We have the lowest rate of high school graduation in the country.
Not all of you may think aerial predator hunting is so bad, but how anyone (other than Alaska wolf-haters, of which there are many, most without teeth), could think this use of funds is appropriate is beyond me.
If you want to know more about the aerial hunting travesty, let me know and I will send some links to informative web sites.
She has been a strong supporter of increased use of fossil fuels, yet the McCain campaign has the nerve to say she has "green" policies. The only thing green about Sarah Palin is her lack of experience.
She has consistently supported drilling in ANWR, use of coal-burning power plants (as I write this, a new coal plant is being built in her home town of Wasilla), strip mining, and almost anything else that will unnecessarily exploit the diminishing resources of Alaska and destroy its environment.
Prior to her one year as governor of Alaska, she was mayor of Wasilla, a small red neck town outside Anchorage.
The average maximum education level of parents of junior high school kids in Wasilla is 10th grade.
Unfortunately, I have to go to Wasilla every week to get groceries and other supplies, so I have continual contact with the people who put Palin in office in the first place.
I know what I'm talking about.
These people don't have a concept of the world around them or of the serious issues facing the US. Furthermore, they don't care. So long as they can go out and hunt their moose every fall, kill wolves and bears and drive their snow mobiles and ATVs through every corner of the wilderness, they're happy. I wish I were exaggerating.
Sarah Palin is currently involved in a political corruption scandal.
She fired an individual in law enforcement here because she didn't like how he treated one of her relatives during a divorce. The man's performance and ability weren't considered; it was a totally personal firing and is currently under investigation.
While the issue isn't close to the scandal of Ted Steven's corruption, it shows that Palin isn't "squeaky clean" and causes me to think there may be more issues that could come to light. Clearly McCain doesn't care.
When you line Palin up with Biden, the comparison would be laughable if it weren't so serious. Sarah Palin knows nothing of economics (admittedly a weak area for McCain), or of international affairs, knows nothing of national government, Social Security, unemployment, health care systems - you name it.
The idea of her meeting with heads of foreign governments around the world truly frightens me.
In an increasingly dangerous world, with the economy in shambles in the US, Sarah Palin is uniquely UNqualified to be vice president.
John McCain is not a young man. Should something happen to him such that the vice president had to step in, it would destroy our country and possibly the world to have someone as inexperienced and inappropriate as Sarah Palin.
The choice of Palin is a cheap shot by McCain to try to get Hillary supporters to vote for him.
when McCain introduced her today, Palin had the nerve to compare herself with Hillary and Geraldine Ferraro.
Sarah Palin, you are no Hillary Clinton.
To those of you who, like me, supported Hillary and were upset that she did not get the nomination, please don't think that Sarah Palin is a worthy substitute.
If you supported Hillary, regardless of what you think the media and the Democratic party may have done to undermine her campaign, the person to support now is Obama, not Sarah Palin.
To those of you who are independent or undecided, don't let the choice of Palin sway you in favor of McCain. Choosing her shows how unqualified McCain is to be president.
To those of you who are conservative, I guess you have no choice for president. But please try to see how the poor choice of Palin tells us a great deal about McCain's judgment.
While the political posturing inherent in the choice of Palin is obvious, the more serious issue is the fact that the VP is, literally, a heartbeat away from the presidency. Sarah Palin is totally and unequivocally unqualified to be vice president, let alone president.
I know this is a lengthy and emotional email, but the stakes are high. I thought it might help for all of you, regardless of political affiliation, to know something about Palin from someone who has to live with her administration in Alaska on a daily basis.

This email is making the rounds. Part of it was posted in a thread last week and I know another Freeper got it. It’s probably a fake as so many of those “Pass it on!” emails are.
“This is an email she received from a Bryn Mawr classmate of hers who lives in Alaska.”
I doubt it. Don’t you just love anonymous cowards?
I stopped reading at the word snowmobile, then I knew it was just urban frustration lashing out at real America getting to places that was supposed to belong to the elitists.
In Alaska we call them snowmachines but mostly we just say “sleds”.
Well, it’s vapid enough for a Bryn Mawr grad...
Just Freeped it. 41.1 % Yes to 48.1 % no. Where is that paper from? New england?
Or as Groucho Marx once said:
"I resemble those remarks."
The likely origination point of most of this, and all the other wild and bottom-feeding Palin accusations is BHO HQ -- through surrogates such as Sullivan and KOS.
That's why Obama continually blames McCain for racist and Muslim "smears," even though McCain's stayed scrupulously away from those. It's projection, pure and simple -- the Obama folk do it, so the Republicans absolutely must be doing the same thing. Obama's zombie followers can't/don't think for themselves, so it's inconceivable to them that anyone on the right can think independently -- all in accordance with their disdain for mainstream America.
Hartford Courant poll. If it is only their readers responding then I guess Palin getting a positive reply from 41% is not bad considering how overwhelmingly Demo the area is.
The Obama campaign is running scared. Your professional friend naively or knowlingly passed on a disinformation letter crafted to sound personal in trying to discredit Sarah Palin. Adding that the recipients of this letter are from Columbia and Bryn Mawr does not make it more convincing, in fact, those details suggest just the opposite. This letter is of the genre that started making the rounds a couple of days ago, all alleging they are from “friends” in Alaska. Dirty tricks from desperate Democrats.
Hey, what a coincidence!
I got an email too, from some guy who has a friend in Chicago named “IZAK”, take a lookg at this folks:
Check it out y’all, I live in Chicago, and I got some sh*t to lay on ya ‘bout dis Obama dude. I have been totally trippin’ ever since that cat got himself nominated for President. You don’t want to be votin’ for him. WORD!
Obama is the biggest race pimpin’ muthaf-**er to come out of Chicago since Revvum Jesse hisself. He got hisself a law degree, hooked up with that retired Weatherman whitey, Ayers whoever-he-is, and I bet B’rack been tappin’ Ayers ol’ lady, wid a name like “Bernadette”, you got to know she puts out, dig?
I still be laughin my azz off when I think ‘bout B’rack talkin’ bout the tides goin’ down, and the world getting healed, and lights shining down from de skies and giving people free epiphanies to vote for him, who needs a damn epiphany? Most folks in Chicago ain’t registered to vote, but that didn’t stop B’rack from bussin’ ‘em to the pollin’ places!
Now before B’rack got his federal gig payin’ big bucks, he was a state senator, and here in Illinois that just means you show up, vote ‘present’, collect yo paycheck, and smile for de camera! Hey whussup? That’s what B’rack been doin’!
Serious now peoples, check this out: B’rack talks ‘bout how much we need to ‘change’ this country, but this country been pretty good to me, I got myself a job with the city of Chicago, it pays good money, I gots insurance, pension plan, bonuses, and all I gots to do is put in a day’s work for a day’s pay, thats whats happenin’. I aint on no welfare, I fights poverty, I works for a livin’, dig?
B’rack talks ‘bout being a “community organizer”, the only organizin’ he be doin’ is organizin’ how much cash he got comin’ in, he be a f*kkin’ millionaire, but you think he’s done anything for his long lost brother in Kenya livin’ on $12 a YEAR?!?
Sh*t, B’rack spends $12 on a shoe shine every damn day, he got nothin for nobody that can’t do somethin’ fo him, dig it?
Now B’brack been squirmin’ ‘bout his former preacher ‘Reverend’ Wright, who just might be singin’ “God Damn America” with them crazy Phelps muthaf-**ers if he could figure out where Kansas is, and B’rack actually told everbody that he believes in Jesus, but he thinks you can get to Heaven without Jesus if ya has to, kinda like takin’ old U.S. 30 to Chicago instead of Interstate 88, good luck with that. Yeah, B’rack believes in Jesus but check it out: Bible says even the demons believe and tremble, true dat!
And B’rack thinks he knows enough to deal with other countries in this world? Hell maaan, I seen that dude get lost tryin’ to find his way to the corner store. If he ends up President, all he gonna do is get lotsa people killed ‘cause he don’t know nothin’, dig?
And that white dude he got runnin’ with him, Joe Bidey, Joe Lo-Bid, whatever? He be stoned trippin’ all the time, where the cat be? I aint seen ‘em for a week now, whuddup wid dat? At least that fine Palin-Babe be out there workin’ it wid that bad-azz Johnny McCain, he might be a little crazy, but a little crazy is what we need to shake ‘em up in DC! WORD!
Now look peoples, some of youse be Democrats, some of youse might be Republicaniacs (not that I know anY!) but we can’t be puttin’ that Obama-dude in the White House, he ain’t done nothin, he ain’t doin nothin now, the only thing in his life he ever run is his mouth, y’all know what I be sayin’ here? All talk, and no action is what B’rack be all ‘bout! How many bills he passed? How many jobs he create? How many years in the damn Army has he served? Answer to all them questions? ZERO!
Now I gots to get to work, and I got no apology for dis, you peeps gotta wake up, wise up, and sober up, and do NOT vote for B’rack Obama, you hearin’ this?
But if you wanna wake up some mornin’ broke, homeless and a tag on yo toe, go throw the switch for Obama and his b*tch.
Word!
Peace out!

Bryn Mawr's most famous alumnus is one Kathy Boudin. Name ring a bell? She was the driver in the Weather Underground Brink's robbery/cop slaughter in 1981.
Just so happens before going to jail, Ms. Boudin spawned a son named Chesa Boudin. (Chesa is a contraction of JoAnne Chesimard, another hero cop-killer in the parent's eyes) - Any idea who one of Chesa’s legal guardians was after Mommy got put away, hopefully for life? - A one William Ayers of Chicago - yes, that William Ayers, the Mr. Ayers who shared a chair on the Annenberg Foundation chaired by one B. Hussein Obama.
It just keeps keeps getting better and better.
The only bigger incubator in our area is Swarthmore. Bleagh!
Don’t forget clinging to eeeevil oil too.
This person doesnt want drilling for oil or natural gas nor developing the largest gold, copper, Molybdenum (and other metals) deposit ever discovered about 50 miles from Anchorage.. Did I say the largest ever discovered on this planet?.. (Pebble Mine)
I got the same e-mail. I supposed it was from some federal employee sent to Alaska.
It’s is so elitist and haughty that I was at a loss for words.
Yeah, how much you wanna bet “Jackie” isn’t an Alaskan?
NPR started one of their shows with a portion of a speech by governor Palin and followed by one of those show-tune dinah shore sounding deals called something like “doing what comes naturally”; so they have obviously latched on to the “white-trash/redneck” meme.
But the truth of the matter is, any sane person would much rather live next door to a logger, or a fisherman, or a governor Palin, than live next door to our oh-so-wonderful RCF (reduced carbon-footprint) “Jackie”. I’m tired of these clowns always trying to define the terms of any debate. Screw ‘em.
There are several indications that this is a contrived email.
The one big one is "Her husband ..... races snow mobiles"
Now most folks in the lower 48 are beginning to learn that Alaskans use the term 'snow machine" not 'snow mobile'.
The writer of this email complains they must travel to Wasilla to buy groceries. That would mean they are West and Northwest of Wasilla, an area even more "Redneck" than Wasilla. And an area where 'snow machines' are much more prevelant.
The expected slip for an Alaskan would be to use the term 'snow machine' to others. An educated person, being sensitive to terminology might think to draw the distinction, but here I think not.
It sounds like someone crafted an email around some obscure observations and is pretending to be someone from Alaska.
I believe the right needs an Obama email about Ayers, Wright and Frank Davis.
She forgot to mention the causal link between Moose stew and cancer.
