The Obama campaign is running scared. Your professional friend naively or knowlingly passed on a disinformation letter crafted to sound personal in trying to discredit Sarah Palin. Adding that the recipients of this letter are from Columbia and Bryn Mawr does not make it more convincing, in fact, those details suggest just the opposite. This letter is of the genre that started making the rounds a couple of days ago, all alleging they are from “friends” in Alaska. Dirty tricks from desperate Democrats.
There are several indications that this is a contrived email.
The one big one is "Her husband ..... races snow mobiles"
Now most folks in the lower 48 are beginning to learn that Alaskans use the term 'snow machine" not 'snow mobile'.
The writer of this email complains they must travel to Wasilla to buy groceries. That would mean they are West and Northwest of Wasilla, an area even more "Redneck" than Wasilla. And an area where 'snow machines' are much more prevelant.
The expected slip for an Alaskan would be to use the term 'snow machine' to others. An educated person, being sensitive to terminology might think to draw the distinction, but here I think not.
It sounds like someone crafted an email around some obscure observations and is pretending to be someone from Alaska.
The individual that forwarded this e-mail to me and several other recipients is a long time acquaintence of mine. It wasn't the doctor, former Bryn Mawr graduate, that is currently at Columbia in NYC. The individual who sent me the e-mail, for what it's worth, is black.
