Shame tonight's speech opposite Giants - Redskins game (vanity)
9-4-2008 | Me

Tonight's NFL opener between the Giants and Redskins is certainly unfortunate for McCain's speech. Plus the game is on NBC so you lose one of the big 4 networks.

The Media will go out and say that B.O. got 30,000,000 viewers but he didn't have to go against the NFL and didn't have one network short carrying speech. Plus, the game tonight features the New York Giants, the largest market team in the NFL who also are the defending Super Bowl champions.

McCain is just filler until Palin talks again next week.

Real men who watch football were going to vote for McCain anyway, no big deal.

You are right, it will be just another way for the left to distort the truth.

But they cannot change the fact that Governor Palin got the BIG ratings...ha ha ha

Didn’t they move the game up to 6pm Central time? It could be over just in time for the speech.

The game was moved up an hour and a half so that it might end prior to McCain’s speech.

Now, there’s a salient observation.

The speech starts after the end of the game.

That’s right, kickoff is 7:07 Eastern. Game should finish just about when McCain takes the stage. McCain will surely wait for the end of the game unless it goes to OT or is delayed by a thunderstorm or something.

“Real men who watch football were going to vote for McCain anyway, no big deal.”

My theory is football season is worth 3 point for republicans.

Democrats are girlie-men!!!! Guy don’t want to be weenies during football season.

Game starts at 7PM EDT. Should be over by 10:15.

Besides, since McCain and Palin “made sure” the announcement press conference last Friday fit nicely into Rush’s commercial breaks, I think the GOP can “ensure” McCain doesn’t start until the game is over.

I remember in 1988 when a Mets-Dodgers LCS game (which was in LA) was bumped to 10:30 PM Eastern time because of the vice presidential debate between Quayle and Bentsen and many New Yorkers were ticked off about it.

It might cut into McCain a little bit and no doubt there will be snarking about his “numbers”...but the most important speech in the entire process will happen 11-4-08. Thats the one I get to make [along with 250million or so of my voting compadres].

He’ll recover from a little football.

with a 7:07 kickoff, the game should be over by 8:00.
