The refurbished is only that it has an upgrade of the ram to 1gb from 512, the Hard Drive to 250GB, and they included Vista Home Premium instead of Vista Basic to make them sell.
This is a nice little pc, fast enough and includes PCI-e 1.0 and 16x, which is why I bought it. (It runs the fastest GPU video cards :) ) Even though it comes with built in nVidia GeForce 6100 GPU, which is already fast, I use it for folding and average around 1600 points a day. HeHe.

I wouldn’t trust Lenovo, I heard they have some security vulnerabilities which would allow remote access from China.

I heard that too. But I have tested my neighbor’s Lenovo, and nothing. Not one process, or port. So, if they are, they’re damn good. LOL
Besides, I’m only using it for folding on a separate network segment.

Amazing. It is about the same cost to buy this rebuilt unit as it is to get a legal copy of Vista Premium. I seldom build systems anymore just for this reason.
It is an older machine, but with the NVidia card that you added it will fly just fine for FReeping and for folding.
Concerning Chinese built computers, ummm ... don't look now, but nearly everything has its origin on the mainland.

I need another folder. A that price, I caved. It was this or buy a 9800GTX dual GPU/single card...$350.00 and up.
It is a return that was upgraded, though, my neighbor’s is anyway, and it does perform nicely.
BTW, the new nVidia driver and software package I posted about now includes 6xxx and 7xxx with CUDA, so F@H will run on them now.

Lenovo computers are not just Chinese built, the company is owned outright by the Red Chinese government.

I refuse to trust them since they come from a nation state with loads of "patriotic hackers." Just because they don't have a port set up now dosen't mean they cant in the future. I just like to be paranoid.
