Instead of wringing our hands over Gustav, we should be pointing out that we elected a competent Governor in Louisiana.

The Republican Un-Convention. It’s looking better than any other political convention I’ve seen. Delegates putting together packages and fielding donation calls for the hurricane victims beats a lot of speeches by people we’ll never see again. Here’s to an unconvential convention!

RNC selects live streaming video provider

The Republican National Convention has selected Ustream.tv as the "official live video streaming provider."

"Partnering with Ustream.TV sends a clear message that the Republican Party wants the Internet generation and all people -- from Party loyalists to casual observers -- to be part of the 2008 Republican National Convention," said convention President and Chief Executive Officer Maria Cino in a press release Tuesday.

"Anyone with computer and Internet access will be guaranteed a front-row seat to history through www.GOPConvention2008.com, as we formally nominate the next President and Vice President of the United States," she added.

Ustream.tv will not be partnering with the Democratic National Convention on a similar deal, although recent notable Ustream.tv events have included Democratic candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, and former candidate John Edwards.

The company maintains it is non-partisan.

Ustream.tv allows anyone with a computer, video camera and internet connection to broadcast live. The company was founded by two U.S. military veterans and a technologist in March 2007.

Eowyn writes about new media laying yet another smackdown on old media with the debut of Pajamas TV, which offers basic feeds for $15 per month.
Back in September 2004, the big blog brou-ha-ha was Dan Rather and the phony Texas Air National Guard memos being debunked with lightning speed, thanks to the Internet. ...

Right around that very time, Jonathan Klein, president of CNN-US, contemptuously dismissed bloggers as "guys sitting around in their pajamas" daring to intrude into the sacred realm of News. ...

So a bunch of these bloggers took on the pajama mantle cheerfully. So much so, it became the germ of an idea -- Pajamas Media, a consortium of bloggers who wanted to take news and politics blogging to the next level.

That is -- challenge the MSM on their own turf. They've evolved to the point that they've received accreditation to cover the Republican National Convention along with the traditional bigs. ...

They should simply run the video of the former DNC chair laughing about the hurricane over and over and over again non stop during the convention. The MSM could not refuse to mention it.

Disagree. There's a time to get into the trenches, and a time to take the high road. IMHO this is the latter.

Doesn't Michael Moore own God an apology?
Doesn't Michael Moore own the people of New Orleans an apology?
Doesn't Michael Moore own the Republican party an apology?

I'll apologize to you Mike. S/ON!...Sorry there weren't massive amounts of casualties and total destruction of a major U.S. city so that your sick dreams of stopping the Republican Convention would come true. Sorry, that the levees have held up so far. And yes, I'm sorry the Geraldo’s hair was messed and Shep's mascara was waterproof. S/OFF!

But I'm most sorry that you are a liberal brazen arse.

It's a Gallup tracking poll. It is down from a high of 8 points a couple of days ago.

Didn't change yesterday, but holiday weekends usually under-sample Republicans. By the end of next week, we'll have a very clear picture of where the race really stands.

I'm expecting McCain to be right in the thick of it. If he can ever get a working lead, he will be awfully tough to overcome.

FWIW Blogging Caesar says:
President:  Polls were hard to come by this weekend.  Other than the tracking polls from Rasmussen and Gallup, only a poll from CNN was released.  The announcement of Sarah Palin as John McCain's running mate seems to be muting only slightly a pretty good bounce for Barack Obama coming off his acceptance speech on Thursday night.  Immediately after the speech, Gallup showed him forging ahead to an eight-point lead, and Rasmussen had him 4 points up.  By yesterday, the margins had fallen to six and three points, respectively.  However, with the GOP convention (and hurricane Gustav) bearing down on us, we could see another toss-up situation by the end of the week.

I believe I heard him say that this morning..or something similar.
He did not emphasize the party IIRC.

Great analysis. I agree.

I believe that McCain will surge soon. I only hope that
it’s not too soon, mid-October would be better timing.

It ALL comes down to Colorado, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia for McCain. If he can hold all four of them, he will be the next POTUS. If he loses even one, it will be tough to overcome.

Polls in those states have been mixed, but they are traditional GOP states, and Palin has helped shore up the base quite a bit. Obama is a slight favorite at this point, but if McCain keeps running a strong campaign, he can most definitely win it.

Considering the Bradley effect, if Barry doesn’t have a 15+ point lead, he’s done for.

They’re playing the national anthem now...

I think Laura Bush is speaking today.

National Anthem. Lone singer on state, with a lone flag on the video board. Pure and simple. America.

Listening to Hannity right now.

Honestly, I don’t like how that was just performed. Sounded like some parts were out of key.
