The 2008 peak of hurricane season is ramping up with Gustav and Hanna. The two storms pose threats to the U.S. At least 22 deaths in Hispanola are attributed to Gustav to date, and a Hurricane Warning is in effect for Jamaica. Tropical Storm Hanna has formed in the Atlantic.

Keep everyone else out but residents should be allowed to come and go at their own risk. Putting them in jail for stepping outside....that’s not right IMO.
Thank you...Hurricane Sarah thread is up.
Yup, if Gus slows down in the gulf and landfall is delayed a mere 12-18 hours that left hook could get us.
Dayyum. That's serious.
Speaking of slowing down, gus has not moved much in the past hour or so.
That was a photo I could have gone without seeing ever again.
Very nice Hurricane Sarah thread.
Sustained winds 125 mph, 954 mb, moving NW at 14 mph.
There are a couple of storms - one in particular that have developed off the north west coast of Africa. The stronger of the two has been getting worse and worse (developing and getting stronger) with each weather update.
Pretty much 20-25 knots in the Keys higher in Key West later on, lower in Key Largo rain is strong and sky gets darker the further South you go.
Good one! Sarah is just getting started as well!
I've saved that pic and the memory of his blaming everyone but himself for the past three years.
And to see that even with 49,000 signatures on a recall petition this guy, Aaron Broussard, was re-elected to office last year.
Even now a court case proceeds that shows Broussard was personally responsible for sending drainage pump operators to safety more than 100 miles away until Katrina passed.
Flood Lawsuit against Broussard going forward
Broussard was personally responsible the very trauma that he blamed President Bush and the Federal government for!!! How this guy can be anywhere near political power as Jefferson Parish's President is astounding... So, I will continue to publish his picture to remind people how this guy was implicated in one of the biggest disasters in US history -- and he is still in public office.
Sorry, but I'll probably re-post this on the next Gustav thread, just to remind folks and to attempt to hold some public accountability.
I worry about our future when I see the likes of Broussard, Nagin, Jefferson, et al re-elected after they demonstrate a complete lack of leadership ability.
Hi Darlin’
Hurry up and get Our Princess and the Little Guy up here to Grandmama and Papa. We can’t wait! Of course you and Hubby are welcome to come too. ;)
