I’m as skeptical of Global Warming as the next guy, but all of these “shocking new facts” about the latest newly discovered mechanism explaining global cooling are starting to read like news of fad diet breakthroughs.
And besides, if significant global cooling does come to pass, or at least look like it might, where on earth does one get the notion that the Left won’t glom on to it, and claim themselves the only saviours of the planet, and seek the same control they now want in the name of preventing global warming?
Of course, they will take the credit ... “see, see we told you if you (fill in the blank), we could stop global warming.”

They already did. Back in the 70s it was ALL about global cooling. I am serious.
As far as I can tell, the only constant is that we don’t know. The track record of predictions has been bad. In the early 1920s global cooling was predicted. In the late 1930s, global warming, mid 1970s global cooling, early 2000s global warming. All these predictions have been wrong. They have all chased a trend. As soon as everyone jumps on the bandwagon, the trend stops! Further confirmation that everyone is always wrong, and that the trend is not always your friend.
At least this author does something sensible. He attempts to reconstruct the historical record.
I am slightly suspicious of single variable explanations. Perhaps variations in the earth’s orbit, the moon’s effect on our orbit, variation in solar radiation, variation in the sun’s magnetic characteristics, gamma ray blasts from other suns, trends in the earth’s interior, random volcanic eruptions, the lagging action of the earth’s oceans, cloud formation, all have some effect on the earth’s climate and weather.
