Despite having been in operation for just three weeks, a company specializing in Mac clones is already putting itself up for sale, according to a website notice. Open Tech says it is now willing to sell the entire company, including branding, trade secrets and website, for a price of just $50,000. This amount can even be paid via PayPal, an extremely unusual move in the business world.
Both the sale value and use of PayPal may suggest that the company was in fact a small-time personal venture, or even that it had no genuine, long-term intentions. A July investigation revealed that no proper traceroute could be done on the Open Tech website, the trail having been cut off somewhere in the Netherlands.
Open Tech distinguished itself from its legally-challenged rival, Psystar, by promising it would not install Mac OS X Leopard directly to a PC, a violation of Apple's licensing agreement. It instead promised to provide a kit which would allow the installation of any major operating system, requiring some manual work on the part of buyers.

What a deal.
Could be their response to a stiffly worded letter from Apple's lawyers...
...or a quick way to make $50K off Apple, when Apple pops into PayPal and buys ‘em.
yeah buy a company that sells unlicensed products that’s a win
I doubt Apple can sue this company
I agree. I think they stayed on the right side of the law... if they even sold a computer.
Sure
All this clone maker has to do is test and retest 5 configuration and include instructions on exactly what version the Apple OS it was tested on. Include a CD with loading programs and other necessary software.
All the buyer has to do is buy the OS disc from Apple or Ebay probably has some too
***** Given all this Apple usually devises updates that exclude these machines or disable sound retroactively. Patching this is not a no-brainer unless the clone maker is responsible and willing to help purchasers. Unlikely in a $50,000 company
****** Acer is large and Taiwanese. They have the ability to make Apple clones minus the OS with future support on the updates problem
A serious clone maker would do this-—
Test five configurations that will work flawlessly with Ubuntu Linux, with Vista and XP and with Apples Leopard OS
Clone maker sells the hardware OS discs and the buyer selects the OS discs he wants. Customer will have to load the OS of his choice
The clone maker’s objective is to sell Apple clones but cloaks himself in neutrality by selling any OS the customer wants
