Shawn Johnson to do Pledge of Allegiance at dnc convention.

She’s a good gymnast, but it takes even better mental gymnastics to attempt to figure out what anyone sees in the RAT party.

They say the pledge at the DNC convention? That’s a shock. Do they leave “under God” out?

Why are they bothering with the Pledge? Barry doesn’t ‘do’ patriotism.

Well, at least she can’t vote; she’s only sixteen.

The GOP should invite May and Walsh to give the Pledge at the GOP Convention. Then they should both pat McCain on the butt for luck.

They should leave the Olympic athletes out of both conventions, period. I thoroughly enjoyed the sporting events, cheered on all US athletes, and was delighted with all their successes. BUT, like entertainers, they should stick with what they know best and let us all just enjoy the fruits of their labor, not their political leanings.

No “crowd shot” angles.
The liberal camera crews will avoid showing the Democratic crowds during the Pledge, however, as no hands would be over any hearts...

I remember years! ago when I was in high school, during the Vietnam war. EVERYONE was a liberal, including the teachers.
The weekly reader had a test in it, are you a liberal or a conservative? We took it, and we had ONE conservative in the class, and it wasn't me. (But everyone thought it was, because I was a Christian).
So I took it home and gave it to my Mom. She gave all the opposite answers, and explained to me why. It was my first understanding of why conservatism makes sense.
It was also one of my inclining factors to homeschool. I realized that empty knowledge without good guidance doesn't necessarily lead to wisdom.
I only learned from the survey when my Mom sat down and explained to me why we should reject “rich corporations should be forced to give more money to starving people”.

She didn’t bother to sing along with the national anthem in Beijing, so why bother with the pledge in Denver?

I don’t have a problem with it. Most people don’t give a crap about the convention. They probably made the offer to the agent. The agent thought..more exposure could be good for more endorsements and so there you go. She’s 16 and has been wrapped up in gymnastics. I doubt she considers the political issues of the modern day.

I think this is a case of the DNC exploiting a wholesome All-American girl from the Midwest to counter their well deserved reputation for being bitter, unwashed America haters. She is a young idealistic girl with naive notions of peace.(Hey who isn't for peace right?)Her appearance at the DNC convention is probably more about exposure than making a political statement. I saw footage of Johnson's homecoming and the announcer told the crowd that Johnson would be doing the pledge at the DNC convention. This was met with dead silence from the previously boisterous crowd. The announcer felt compelled to say “Hey it's an honor. She's 16 it isn't a political statement.”
