I think the Ford Escort deserves to be on the list. That car was ubiquitous for a long time, even if it was a bit crappy.

I owned 2 Escorts. I absolutely loved them. They required the least amount of maintenance of any vehicle I have ever owned. My last Escort I got 120K miles and only changed the oil once and still got between 36 and 38 MPG. The only problem I had was the tie rods.

Yep, the Wagon Queen Family Truckster. A guy just built a 100% replica and drove it on the Hot Rod Power Tour.

it up but its still running.

My father had a 1963 Ford Falcon that lasted until 1981, just a few months shy of my turning 16:( I did have the chance to drive it off road though.

Saw quite a few Ford Falcons in Australia recently. The name now applies to series of cars - one of which is an El Camino like vehicle.

Where’s the 1964 1/2 Mustang? A major oversight — and it made Lee Iacoca an iconic figure in the American auto industry.

On second thought, I guess that car wasn’t “Underappreciated”. I’ll take that reply back...

My first car was a Ford Falcon, so I will always have a sentimental attachment to that model. It was a simple car, easy to do all the maintenance yourself. A couple of screwdrivers, some pliers, and a set of socket wrenches - plus a timing light. That was all you needed.

The Mustang was just a reworked Falcon.
