I think the Ford Escort deserves to be on the list. That car was ubiquitous for a long time, even if it was a bit crappy.

I owned 2 Escorts. I absolutely loved them. They required the least amount of maintenance of any vehicle I have ever owned. My last Escort I got 120K miles and only changed the oil once and still got between 36 and 38 MPG. The only problem I had was the tie rods.

My first Escort lasted me 10 years and over 250000 miles with almost no problems over that time... my second one has lasted almost 13 years so far, and the first time I had it worked on was last november.
