PAUL NEWMAN has told his family he wants to die at home, according to new US reports.

The Oscar-winning actor has completed his chemotherapy but has told his family he has weeks to live.

Newman was recently pictured leaving the Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York in a wheelchair and reports say that he wants to be with wife JOANNE WOODWARD and his daughters in his final weeks.

Frail ... Paul Newman leaves hospital

“He didn't want to die in the hospital,” said a close family friend. “Joanne and his daughters are beside themselves with grief.”

It was reported that the star of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid has been putting his affairs in order.

The source, described as a 'close family friend' said that the star – who co-owns a motor racing team and has his own salad dressing brand – had spent the past few weeks getting his affairs in order.

How about Hud, Hombre, and Harper ? Those actually are some of my favorites. I saw Hud and Hombre first run at the Strand in Summit, NJ for 35 or 50 cents. At 14, I didn’t really understand what was going on in Hud, but 4 years later, I soaked up Newman’s super-cool good guy act in Hombre. I forget when I first saw Harper, but I think that was the template for the hip low-living detective, as we know the role in, e.g., Rockford Files.

Cool movies all! Did you ever see THE DROWNING POOL--the sequel to HARPER?

Cancer is hideous. It’s difficult to see it take someone loved or even just familiar. God be with him and his family.

May his fans take a moment to do something kind for a cancer patient’s family that they actually know.

Nope. I didn't even know there was a sequel to HARPER ! I guess that's one for my list.

A lefty but a fine actor with many memorable roles....Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy, Hud, and Fast Eddie, to name a few!

May God grant him painless peace in his final days.

My late father was related to a member of the “hole in the wall gang” and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was his favorite movie of all time.

Related to “Bub” Meeks, who was involved with the robbery at Montpellier, Idaho, and likely other robberies as well—for the historians. Meeks was later captured and seved prison time.

Ironically a Joe Meeks (brother or cousin of Bub) was involved leading a posse after the gang at another time).

My great grandfather WAS a Joseph Meeks, was cousin of Bub, and was the right age to have been involved. I have some research to do. However Bub also had a brother named Joeseph, but he would have been very young to fit into the dates very well.

So it is easy to understand my Dad’s affection for the movie and the characters. His family was on both sides of the law!!

Try the Roasted Garlic and Parmesan dressing. We stock up on bottles of it when I can find it at Publix.

Zot, I’d forgotten how pretty he was. I hope his last days are peaceful and all spent with his family. God bless them.

Butch Cassidy: Then you jump first.
Sundance Kid: No, I said.
Butch Cassidy: What’s the matter with you?
Sundance Kid: I can’t swim.
Butch Cassidy: Are you crazy? The fall will probably kill you!

My aunt and uncle lived near him in Westport for a while and they said he is a genuine person, very down to earth. May God grant he and his family the peace that passes all understanding.

Goodness, I wasn’t questioning his motives or anything like that. Just commenting on the other poster who made a reference to feeling superior by using his products. And there is that certain element who will buy something associated with a celebrity which makes them feel somewhat above it all. That’s all, I thought it was humorous. I was shocked when I tasted his dressing, just nothing to it. Kroger’s house brnads are better. What I make at home is better.

But saying that in no way indicates I don’t think he should do it (If some guy wants to cash in on his celebrity to donate to charity, then good for him.) It’s simply a comment on the product and the segment of society that needs to align itself with celebrity products to feel cool.

(I think we should wait until he dies and question his motives) I NEVER questioned his motives - why would I? Why would anyone? I just don’t think the product is very good, especially since it costs more. If he donates the proceeds to charity, that’s wonderful. I wish him only the best, what more can I say in such a sad time?

I want to die at home, too.

Preferably with Mrs L in very, very close proximity if you know what I mean.
