If you are sure he’s in perfect health maybe he reacted poorly to his food.

For tonight I would lock him/her up in the bathroom with the litter box and see if he’s going to uses the floor or the box.

Obviously, the little material is the same as always?

Try white vinegar......My 2 cats fight over the litter box constantly and sometimes the big one goes NEXT to the litter box....I should hang him for that but thank goodness for Clorox Wipes.....

P.S....you can be “really” firm and stick his face in it!!!!!!!

You need to take him to an animal psychologist so you can get to the bottom of his anger and work through these issues together.

Something’s up. There was a vanity post last night about the same thing and another poster joined the thread because she was having the same problem. :)

Put the cat in a gunny sack along with a couple of bricks and tie the sack at the top. Then dump the sack containing the “dumping” cat in a nearby waterway.

Are you certain it was the cat? How much did you have to drink?

My cat did this on-and-off for about 2 weeks a while back. It turned out she simply needed more attention than she was getting. This may or may not be the issue with your cat; cats can be quite finicky.

It’s a cat...maybe he just felt like taking a dump.

If he doesn't do it all the time, I wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes, just like people, they have to go NOW. If it continues, check with the vet.

Also, have you changed litter recently? My cats hated scented, dusty litter as they got older. Actually, the oldest refused the litter box until I started using PetCo nonscented litter. She was 18 yrs old when she started using the litter box. :/

Maybe he thinks he’s a cocker spaniel.

Make it swift and merciful. Don’t tell anyone, and don’t get another cat. If anyone asks, just say he must have run away.

I had an older cat, who , I suspect was losing her eyesight.

Had to start leaving a night light by her litter in the basement....and could NOT relocate her food bowl.

And later...I put the food and water closer to her sleeping place....(the litter also)...so she could find it.

Good luck to you and Puddy Cat....

> In a nut shell: I have a ten year old, neutered, never been outside, male cat in perfect health who just took “a dump”, worthy of any cocker spaniel, on the bedroom floor.

Ten years old is a good innings for a cat. I had a cat that started to go mad at 10, and started dumping on my bedroom floor — ignoring his litterbox. His vet told me the cat was now too old and would never stop doing that.

I therefore bumped him off humanely and thereafter I have always owned dogs.

Chances are he was caught by surprise by the need to go as you were that he did. He’s getting old. His body isn’t what it used to be. Have you switched litters recently? He may not like it. And please, please don’t stick his nose in it. He won’t get the connection.

“Just slip out the back Jack.

Wait that’s from 50 ways to leave your lover.

Dumping a cat should be simple enough. Introduce them to the great outdoors. “Born freeeeeeeeeeeeeeee “

Your cat just took a dump on the floor for the second time in a year? Oh yeah, there's trouble in River City. With a capital "T".

Any change in the household routine? I mean ANY change?

Friends with kids stopping by for a visit?

New furniture?

I’ve seen cats do this sort of thing and it was just the tiniest bit of routine change that caused them to make a statement of disapproval, so to speak...

Does the litter box have high walls? If so, could be an arthritis thing, and you might want to try a shallower LB. If the little guy keeps it up with the defecatory no-nos, however, you might want to give your vet’s office a call to see if your kitty should be checked out. And I don’t know if it’ll make you feel any better, but I bet your cat doesn’t like going on the floor, either :)

Assuming this cat is in perfect health, something has changed, and he’s telling you something. You say your cat “did it” on the bedroom floor. Is the litter anywhere near the bedroom? If not, the choice of bedroom is interesting. Do you have a new boyfriend?
