Ok folks, the one commonality that we should all have here is conservatism. You will have to go to the URL site to see the articles.

Sometimes I wonder if we even know how to spell it. At best it may be like Mark Twain said, "You've got the words, but not the music." I am here to learn the music.

It seems like 99% of what I see at FR is DRIVE BY POSTING. Just like the media, we put no thought or research into what we write. We are the pot calling the kettle black as far as I am concerned.

Look at what the internet says about conservatism. Any comments? If we are going to teach others, we better know what we are talking about and how others see conservatism. I expect few good comments because it will require a THINKING CAP. Of course, there will be "drive by" posting........go ahead, prove my point.

I know that adding (and sex) to the title would get more readership, maybe I will repost with that title.

Conservatism wants to conserve the original intent of the Founding Fathers and promote the Constitution and our Republic form of limited government, with freedom and liberty for all.

Liberalism wants to hasten America's demise, through higher taxation, wealth redistribution, a larger welfare bureaucracy, social engineering and a downsized military.

Actually "conservative" has become the term to offset the diversionary term of "progressive".. touted and spread by liberals/leftists.. "They" being progressive and the other side being conservative.. and the so-called conservatives are allowing the liberals to control the conversation by controlling the words..

THATS what is happeneing.. and republicans and other "conservatives" are pretty much clueless as to this gambit.. and allow it.. and even champion the term as correct.. When it is NOT CORRECT.. Also; conservative translates into being/meaning "same old, same old".. Conservative are FOR, it is reported, same old same old NOT progress.. By the way leftists are neither progressive or democratic.. historically and actually..

A "trick" is being played on "conservatives" and they are CLUELESS.. eye rolling, drooling, clueless.. So-called "conservatives" need to DEFINE THEMSELVES.. by coming up with another word to describe themselves... Conservative... simply WILL NOT DO.. I suggest a symposium on BOTH WORDS.. to UNmask them..

To me, the defining characteristic, and appeal of Conservatism is its intellectual consistency across the boards, and specifically with American Conservatism, the desire and effort formulate opinions, judgments and views from, "the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God," and the "self-evident," truths expounded upon in our Nation's founding document.

People who say they are "fiscal conservatives" but "socially liberal" have either exercised flawed logic, or have not thought matters completely through. The sanctity of the individual and his/her exercise of liberty has as much to do with the pro-life movement, the right to keep and bear arms and the right to do what the individual sees fit with the fruits of their labor.

Because modern liberalism has attained the power it has through a weak coalition of disparate and often divergent and competing interests, it must often embrace hypocrisy, misrepresent reality and rewrite history in order to survive.

It's this consistency that is, for me, the primary difference between contemporary conservatism and liberalism. Certainly there are some small disagreements within the conservative movement, but they can almost always be viewed as interpretive matters unlike the disagreements in the liberal movement which can frequently border on fractious and be best described as competing interests.

Sometimes I wonder if we even know how to spell it.

My new shorthand for Conservative is   C/  ; or   C/s   = Conservatives.

C forward-slash

Conservatism is more a state of mind--an approach to analysis--rather than an ideology. True Conservatism in any people, starts with a desire to preserve the achievements of that people, both material and spiritual; to pass those achievements down through their posterity, generation by generation.

True Conservatism understands that positive progress comes from building on the multi-generational achievements of a people, rather than disrupting their society and endlessly reshuffling the rubble, to serve the foolish notions--the folly--of the moment.

I invite you to tour my web site, devoted to helping students fight for traditional American Conservative values and interests, where you will find a large variety of relevant subjects addressed: Return Of The Gods Web Site. (The Metaphorical Gods from the title are those from the Kipling Poem, "The Gods of the Copybook Headings," who return with terror and slaughter, whenever any people follow the false Gods of wishful thinking too far down the path of folly.)
