Those new swimsuits don’t look very masculine. I would rather wear a short racer than those suits. Why don’t they just strap a motor on the back?
;)

USA! USA! The best swimming race I've ever seen.

It's a black day for the French as well as that vocal group of smugly anti-Olympic Freepers who are just too cool to root for their countrymen. You suckers won't get to see the French team get their hype shoved down their throats!

In fairness to the French they didn’t specify which Olympics.

LOL

The French were ‘stunned’.

Phelps and the American team were ecstatic.

Even the teams that came in #4 and #5 broke or nearly broke the old record (IIRC). That is how fast this event was.

Thing dangling would create too much drag...

What aggravates me with the NBC commentators/announcers is this:
For several events the commentators have basically handed other teams the gold medals BEFORE the event takes place. They have implied that the Americans didn't stand a chance of winning.
And in those events, Americans ended up winning.

If there is any 'smashing', it should be the mouths of the commentators.

Thanks for the link.

Most exciting moment of the Olympics so far! Lezak was the hero, for sure.

All the way through 5th broke the old record. Canada was 6th and they were .01 off the old record. That was an incredible race.

Like the commentators I was pretty much writing it off at the turn on the last leg. And then he slowly but surely closed that gap. Amazing.

They should have gone with the old head butt technique.

I agree about the announcers. I only watched about a half hour of the Olympics, but I did see this race and women's race where Katie Hoff (USA) came in second.

Before the women's race they showed some personal footage of the French woman who was supposed to win it. She came in last. England, who had never medaled in that race took gold and bronze. France was dead last. What a waste of time the announcers spent talking about some French-Italian swimmer girl fight over a guy.

BERNARD “DOES NOT LEAVE THERE UNSCATHED "

Information confirmed by Alain Bernard, who evoked “of the changes at the last time”, before adding, sibylline, “one will speak again about it”. The ex-recordman of the world of the speciality, which passed nearly 10 minutes squatted in the toilets of the water Cube, the head in the hands, still seemed under the shock. "Alain is touched. To leave last relay runner at the head and to be made beat, one does not leave there unscathed“, recognized the national technical director, Claude Fauquet. On the question about the swimmers, the DTN admitted that it was to speak about it with Marc Begotti, person in charge for the relay. "It is necessary that I see with him. It is not me [which made the decision]", it commented on, specifying simply that it was “easy to remake the races " afterwards. “With 8 hundredths of better, one would have discussed again the order never again ", it underlined.

This looks like it was translated from the French, and that Monsiuer Bernard intends to protest.

Let him.

Sore loser.

You have to be pretty unaware of the shortcomings of using an online translator, such as Babelfish for example, to go ahead and paste and translate an entire paragraph and expect it to come out making any kind of sense. This looks like a typical translation of an entire paragraph. If your own translation capabilities are limited, you’re much better off doing it sentence by sentence in a program like Babelfish or something similar. The context gets lost anyway, and all you get is Babblecrap.
