I hate to be picky, but I wish those two announcers would learn to say Beijing correctly. It is NOT a soft ‘j’! It is ‘jing’ as in ‘jing-oism’ or ‘jingle’!! (well — I am picky! Got a problem with that?)

Would you feel any better if they still called it 'Peking'?

Peking, Peiping, Beijing — all are romanizations of the same Chinese characters (meaning Northern Capital) The pronounciation of those characters remains the same.

LOL! I said that I hated to be picky -— but I guess I am!!
