Watching the parade of nations. Who is this noxious commentator on ABC with Bob Costas?

Matt Lauer. I know he's ridiculous.

Thanks for all the links!

Maybe you stepped away for a minute and missed her? She had super long hair extensions and I remember Bob saying she was going to come out of the globe. A few of us commented on her. It wasn’t a long segment.

No, I agree with you. I don’t remember what country it was, New Zealand maybe? They had similar outfits to ours, but the women wore white skirts and their jackets were shorter and fitted at the waist. It was very sharp.

Twin2!!! Good to see you!! I hope you’re having a good summer!

I hope you can join us for the DNC live threads! Those should be excellent! We all may not agree on the Olympics in China, but we can all agree that the dems are at best silly and at worst dangerous.

Matt Lauer was calling the event with Costas. Explains a lot...he’s a total Clymer.

Am I the only one who thought that was just a little disturbing?

Found this thread this AM and wanted to see if anyone else thought the opening ceremonies were disturbing... and you're the first on the thread that I saw, anyway.

I didn't watch the whole thing. Tuned in about the time of the drums and after being reminded of the pomp, circumstance and pageantry of the opening of the 1936 Olympics hosted by Nazi Germany (only bigger and badder in Beijing), I changed channels with a shudder. The physical manifestation of the heart of communism on display: there are no individuals.

Makes you want to run for an Ayn Rand book. Anthem comes immediately to mind.

Your people were very kind and good to us when we were in Beijing and Xi’an ten months ago. I would like to visit again.

How pissed my the ChiComs be with the russians stealing the world stage over in Georgia. I dont think the timing of the invasion was a coincidence either.

I have very fond memories of Lillehammer myself, and Sydney.

I loved the opening ceremonies (and the closing) at Lillehammer! The Norse mythology and the colors... it was wonderful and I really enjoyed that one.

This opener was nicely colorful (and looked good in HD) but altogether very boring.
