Yes I made it because it is TRUE! I’ve heard the same music repeated at least 10 times now. It is actually getting irritating. The Chinese spend how many millions of dollars to build facilitites and put on a spectacular show and they play the same 15 minutes of music over and over and over.... that doesn’t make sense.

The pitcher was pretty hot as softball players go.

The way Costas/Laur were talking, they made it sound
as if those athletes probably didn’t even know that
Russia had bombed Ossetia ... many people supposedly
dead.

Note how Putie is sitting right in front of the Bushes.
Interesting placement.

They might as well have just gotten the “It’s a Small World” tape from Disney and used that.

I miss Jim McKay.

Amen.
And Amen.

I'll never forgive whoever was the progamming IDIOT that put
McKay on live at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
It was clear he was a bit slow for live TV...the twits at NBC
should have known McKay should have only done pre-recorded
interviews/profiles.

Rest well, Jim McKay.

Okay...see what you mean.

Maybe I’m tuning it out by watching and not listening.

Noticed when the Americans came in President Bush put his jacket back on and stood for them. Nice touch.

and buttoned his jacket. The President and Mrs. Bush are total class. They will be missed.

One of the most incredible openings I’ve ever seen. Their coordination took a lot of practice and preparation obviously.

Some comments on the teams entrances if I may -

Poland and Hungary - the guys wore jackets and the women wore formal dresses! Yeah! Woohoo for gender differences in clothing!

Meanwhile most all our Western teams - jackets and pants for all.

US team - berets?!? Send Ralph Lauren back to France, please.

I saw them talking when I watched part of the opening ceremony on a Canadian channel this morning.

She’s kind of .......... a knockout .. lol.
I think she has a 2-yr old son. Yep ... quite
a story.

Fashionable endorser

Finch’s fashion sense influenced her endorsement deal with Mizuno, a softball equipment and apparel manufacturer that produces Finch signature lines.

The 23-year-old says she chose Mizuno so she could have more control over the designs of the clothing. She wants the line to include trendy sweatsuits. Finch is so into fashion she even named her dog Prada, after the internationally-known apparel line.

“I love makeup, I love clothes, I love shoes,” she told the Arizona Daily Star. “I’m the ultimate girl!”

Jennie Finch draws as much attention for her looks as her athletic ability.

Pretty as a pitcher

While Finch’s pitching earned her athletic accolades, her looks vaulted her into celebrity status. The blonde Finch joined baseball’s Alex Rodriguez and auto racer Dale Earnhardt, Jr., as the only athletes among People Magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People” in the spring of 2004.

In 2003 she was voted ESPN.com’s “Hottest Female Athlete,” dethroning tennis player Anna Kournikova. Finch can also be seen on TV as a correspondent for ESPN’s “This Week in Baseball.”

Diamond from a Diamondback

Eight months after their first meeting, Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Casey Daigle proposed to Finch. Daigle brought Finch to Hillenbrand Stadium, where Finch played with Arizona, and arranged for the lights to be turned on.

He led a blindfolded Finch to the pitching mound and presented her with a five-carat diamond ring. “You’ve been the queen of this town for four years,” he said. “Now I want you to be queen of my heart.”

The two were married on Oct. 30, 2004 and honeymooned in Bora Bora. Finch and Daigle, who now pitches for the Minnesota Twins, welcomed their first child, a son named Ace Shane, in May of 2006. Finch did not miss a season of softball due to pregnancy.
