HELP! Left-clicks locking up Firefox 3.0.1
Posted on 08/02/2008 8:00:27 AM PDT by Number57
I'm forced to use Opera today (not such a bad thing, but) because last night Firefox started acting weird. Clicking more than once on ANYTHING in Firefox causes it to freeze, and nothing works but hitting CTRL ALT DEL, then canceling out, and you can click again. Once. Or twice if I'm lucky.
Anyone else having this issue?

Probably your mouse. Toss it into the dishwasher to clean it. That should fix it !!!

What extensions are you using with FF?
Have you installed new ones or upgraded any recently?
Do you use mouse gestures?

I’ve had a big problem with Firefox lately. It happened after it upgraded.
I think it’ll settle down...but we’ll see...;-)

A few years ago, I cleaned my keyboard. The new one took some getting used to.
A few months later, I cleaned my mouse. The new one took some getting used to.

Last night Firefox started acting weird on me. It wouldn’t connect to anything at all. It was either timing out or just loading forever. It seemed to correct on it’s own after about a half hour.

I was having major problems with Firefox last weekend. It was freezing, etc... I downloaded a new version which rewrote over the old one.. and voila! it’s smokin.
To: Chuzzlewit
looks like what I downloaded WAS 3.1 which is what you are having your probs with.. never mind..

Weird.
Guess it’s time for a full system scan... can’t think what else might be causing this other than some bug I might have caught.

FF upgrades have not always been kind.
I have used FF since about version 0.7. Some upgrades caused havoc with FF and some created other problems on my computer.
After version 2.0.0.11 (IIRC) messed up a bunch of extensions, and I finally got that cleaned up by deleting and installing an older version, I turned off the automatic upgrade feature.
You might try uninstalling and reinstalling FF. [I am still running 3.0. I didn’t upgrade to 3.1 — I cringe every time I see new verion or ‘upgrade’.]
