Never really get chocolate and strawberries I know with the chocolate fountains and posh desserts in restaurants it is all the rage but give me either just plain strawberries or strawberries and cream with a little sprinkle of sugar any day.

In addition to the above Holidays, we have a couple of state celelbrations .......
Lentil Festival in Washington
Lentils with sausage, spinach, carrots and potatoes
1 t olive oil
2 links mild Italian sausage, casings removed (optional)
1 large or 2 small onions (about 1 cup), chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 t red pepper flakes
1 T oregano
1 t salt
1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
8 cups water
2 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
2 carrots, peeled and cubed
2 cups lentils (1 16 oz. package)
1 package baby spinach
Heat oil in a stockpot on medium-high and add sausage, if using. Stir the sausage breaking it up into small bits as it cooks. Add next 6 ingredients in the order listed (onions through pepper). Cook 5-6 minutes stirring occasionally.
Add water, potatoes, carrots and lentils. Turn heat to high, let mixture come to a boil and turn it down to a simmer.
Cover and cook on low heat for 20-30 minutes. Add spinach and replace lid. Cook 10 minutes or until spinach wilts. Remove lid and cook another 5-10 minutes, until lentils are tender and sauce is thickened.
Let cool 10 minutes before serving (can be made a day or two ahead). Serve with bread.

Yesterday my boss turned 60 and I made her a cake. A Victoria Sponge which is equal in weight flour, fat, sugar and egg, in fact in this cake there was a pound of each. I then sandwiched the 2 halves together with raspberry jam and sprinkled sugar on top. She is going to cut in on Saturday when her family are visiting

Very interesting photo, Cardhu. I like how the fog is settled in, giving it somewhat of an ethereal look. (I also noticed this one and a couple of your other recent ones are a more manageable size to open - at 60,313 bytes - but probably no one else has problems opening all the ‘heavy’ graphics) THANK you for that!

LOL, they would want me to stop eating at the computer and I doubt if I know how to set at a table with real folks ..... Your posts make me smile. I rather imagine you'd know which fork to use, etc. :)

Dedicated to the tooth fairy:
The tooth fairy looks down to spot children with little missing teeth.
A lucky child will receive a quarter for each tooth put under his or her pillow.
Sometimes the tooth fairy needs to see the eye doctor before returning to work.

What a pretty place to live - all the pretty geraniums and other colorful flowers. Spain....or Italy, no doubt. :)
