Ok, so as some of you know, the bootleg dvds in China have "regular" packaging, often just like the real things. I pick up the Spiderman bootleg dvd and here's the English description on the back:
"Even as Scully's genetically altered DNA brings her closer to the brink of death, government agent Michael Kritschgau helps Mulder in the search for a cure, partly to atone for his own involvement with perpetuating the alien hoax. Scully's DNA comes into play once again when she discovers she is the mother of a little girl named Emily, an incident that could only be related to her abduction years earlier. But in the end it is a young boy named Gibson Praise whose body may contain genetic proff of man's relationship to an alien race and who may hold the key to unlocking the mysteries of the Spider-Man."
Then down below where it lists the actors it reads:
PRODUCTON Nicolas Cage David Tom Hanks Silent Witness David Morse pame buscemi VING RHAMES COLM MEANEY MYKEL ...
...and numerould other names that appear to have no connection whatsoever to Spiderman.
Near where I’m staying in Beijing, they just opened a beautiful new subway entrance near the Dawanglu station. There’s a sign directing people up the steps to “Dawanglu Roan.”
I mean, couldn’t they have spent a few extra bucks to make sure they spelled “road” correctly?
Cheers!
A co-worker of mine went to Tokyo and came back with a box of these for his desk:
Cheers!
Somewhere I have a pic of a Chinese restaurant with a banner outside saying, “GRANG OPENING”.
Clearly they meant “Grange Opening”!?
Some fancy coffee shop near here meant to call itself “Magnificent Cafe.” But the sign says “Magnificent Cate.”
Not exactly the best example of Engrish I've seen...;)
Cheers!
Well, we're not the same persons if that's what you're trying to get at. I'm not put off by the thread. However, I don't find it amusing. I do like Larry The Cable Guy though :) ..... git er done !!! ;)
Saw a store in a Beijing mall the other day called “Ho’s Fashions.”
