Dear fellow forum members,

What are the best reasons or arguments you can think of to keep marijuana illegal?

It would really really help to if you can reply only after reading http://www.nationalreview.com/12feb96/drug.html .

Thank you.

So you're calling me a racist?

No. I'm saying your talking points are almost as retarded and sensationalistic as the original reasons for pot prohibition.

Are you a jerk or do you just play one on FR?

I just play one on FR. See my freeper profile page for details.

Yeah. The fact that you anti-pot people are in a small minority on the world's premier conservative forum should tall you something.

There are no conservative potheads. There are just potheads who think they are conservative.

The Several States, having the same constitutional form of government, ALSO derive their legitimate authority from We, the People. So the same thing holds true. We CANNOT DELEGATE WHAT’S NOT OURS TO GIVE. Period. You’ve noted the only exception, which is LOCAL regulation of PUBLIC behaviors. That’s all. Government has ASSUMED these powers, but they are as illegitimate as would be my claim to the English throne.

There are no conservative potheads.

So what specific chemical in pot affects the part of the brain which dictates political leanings?

you talk to 100 heroin/crack/meth addicts and 99 will tell ya that they started with pot.

So by keeping pot illegal we produce heroin/crack/met addicts?

Good job drug warrior, good job!

Almost all fat people started out on milk.

Obesity shortens life, reduces the quality of life, and promotes other diseases.

Therefore, based on your logic.....

A Fresno man is in custody today after casino security videotaped him placing a large amount of marijuana on a blackjack table, apparently as his bet. Video shows the man then reclaiming the bag of weed, but then taking just a few buds and placing those out as his bet. Even as casino security scooped up the contraband, the man seems unfazed, because he has ordered a card on the internet that he believes gives him the right to bet weed.

No, I'm arguing it's less harmful that alcohol and tobacco by far.

I don't believe WOD talking points.

Have a good night.

Because it would be too difficult to tax if it was legal to grow your own.

Yes, which is why every American has a still in their backyard.

Even more shocking is that 100 of the 100 have eaten Cheerios.

You need to do a little research on the differences between correlation and causation.

Comparing the negative effects of pot to the negative effects of alcohol is a bankrupt argument, because virtually all of alcohol’s bad effects come from using too much of it and almost all of pot’s bad effects are experienced by using normal doses.

Ok, Im the official Pit Bull Defender

Ping me anytime you want on that subject. It's astonishing how many people on a conservative site are champing at the bit to take people's property rights away.

I’m not sure legalization is a bad idea. I’m not sure it’s a good idea. I am sure that newbies who ask us to not only do their research for them but demand that we do homework before answering have forgotten their manners.

Can you point to the research on this, please? Thanks in advance.

And calling marijuana a gateway drug is ridiculous, since in almost every case the real gateway drug was alcohol or tobacco.

Additionally, define "normal" pot use.

Your last paragraph is silly, and I would say that even if I was the most hardcore pro-legalization guy around. aising the specter of 250 million people getting urine tests makes you sound like a wacko, and the “we can’t stop it unless we violate everyone’s rights in every possible way so let’s not fight it at all” argument could be used with murder, rape, shoplifting, embezzlement, drunk driving, etc.
