please the experienced and very serious shooters may add to the list of ultimate handguns in 1911 out of there knowledge and experience.(it would be more help full that if you recommend one gun onlyalong with its manufacturers name and specific model repectively).

slightly compact models will be more appreciated(for concealed carry but without in any way compromising accuracy and durability). thanks zeeshan

The ultimate 1911 for concealed carry is the Springfield Armory Ultra-Compact V-10. There is no substitute for this firearm since no other company offers a ported barrel at this price.

The ultimate 1911 in a full sized government model is the one I just finished shooting this morning. It’s a Taurus stainless 1911. It has every feature anyone can desire for around 600 dollars. The only downside is the cheap plastic grips which was probably intentional. I already put in my order for a new set from here:

Agreed. I have a Kimber Compact CDP II, and it is so accurate that it makes me feel like Zeus throwing thunderbolts. It has never had a jam. The finish is exquisite, with every sharp edge and corner rounded off for concealed carry. It is the finest weapon I have ever owned.

Thanks for the advice about IDPA. I don’t remember seeing Chas Daly at the gun shows. I will look for them.

Obviously...you don’t have enough guns if they didn’t sink that canoe before you flipped.

The ultimate 1911 would be a complete, from the ground up, custom build. If you want the absolute best I suggest you contact one of the absolute best 1911 smiths. A few that come to mind are Ted Yost of Heirloom Precision, Stan Chen of Legacy Custom, CT Brian, Ned Christiansen, John Harrison, and Chuck Rogers.

Go over the the Louder Than Words forums to see examples of their work.

If you don’t want or cant afford a full custom gun I would suggest going with a semi-custom from Les Baer, Ed Brown, Nighthawk Custom, or Wilson Combat.

These are all 70 series guns and don’t have any unnecessary safety devices (anti-litigation devices) that modern Colt 80 series and Kimber series II have that screw up the trigger pull.

Additionally, unlike some Colts and Kimbers, all of these guns will run right out of the box. Not that Colt and Kimber don’ run, but it’s certainly more hit or miss.

They cost a little more than a new Colt, Kimber, or SA but they are worth it. You get what you pay for.

What guns? I don’t have any guns. Evil things, they will jump up and shoot somebody.

Yep, after considerable exhudation, they engage in spontanious combustion, and self-dissasemble right there on the hard stand.

But only in large calibers.

I conceal carry a howitzer. By necessity I must wear really loose clothing.

I recently purchased a Taurus PT-1911 and for about a third of the price of all the custom and semi-custom 1911's aforementioned you can't go wrong.

It's the best 1911 I've ever fired...including the expensive ones!

“The military 1911 have been known to shoot 250,000 rounds without a problem. That is hard to beat.”

I have read of tests like that with the Glock, but never with a 1911. I hear that they usually need reworking about 20,000 rounds, but that it can vary quite a bit because there are so many 1911 manufacturers.

I love mine. It didn’t fail yesterday and it was so accurate even with my loads. I thought I would have had to break it in but it just kept running and running.

The plastic grips just have to go. My new grips should be here in about two weeks. I want to post pictures of it when the grips are installed.

The other thing is I want to cut back the grip safety a little more. I started to take a higher hold and I was having trouble keeping the safety off. It shouldn’t be that touchy.

When I first received it, it was shooting about 18 inches at 60 yards away. I sent it back to the factory and they gave me a shorter rear sight. The thing is dead on now.

My son's Ed Brown. Those grips are from the same maker as the ones I orders. They are custom grips to your specs.

The great thing about this pistol is the point of impact doesn't seem to change from my son's ammo to factory to my reloads. Remarkable.
