Hal F. Jones, 58, Edgewater, a self-employed truck driver, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at the Hospice Care Center, Port Orange. Mr. Jones, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, was born in Berwyn, Ill., and moved to Edgewater in 1976 from Chicago, Ill. He was a radio dispatcher for the New Smyrna Beach Police Department for ten years and the Volusia County Sheriff's Department for five years. He also was a volunteer for the Turnbull Bay Fire Department and a ham radio operator. He enjoyed fishing, football and NASCAR. Survivors include his wife, Katherine "Kathy"; two sons, Phillip Jones, Edgewater, and Kevin (April) Jones, Maiden, N.C.; two daughters, Jessica and Jennifer Jones, both of Edgewater; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia Jones, in 1983. Funeral service will be 7 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at the Dudley Edgewater Chapel with Chaplain Alan Gaylord, Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, officiating, and members of the American Legion Post #285, Edgewater, conducting military honors. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the service time Saturday at Dudley Edgewater Chapel. Private burial will be Monday, July 21, in the Veterans Field of Honor at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater.

Thank you for participating! I ride in a support vehicle. Bucky and I have been out three times. It is amazing! I would have called the PGR anyway, regardless of the other groups. Everyone would have been happy to be together.
Sorry about your friend. I know it must have been hard, but of course, a great honor. When I do, which I hope isn’t anytime soon, that the PGR will ride for me.
