Can't they wait until AFTER the holidays?
I don't think that this is too much to ask.

The timing’s a little whacked, don’tcha think? If he wanted to get away with it, why not wait 3 more months when President Obama would come over and talk to him or President McCain would be blocked by Congress from doing anything? The only plausible reason he’d attack in November is if he actually wanted a response from the US and figured Bush would do it on the way out the door.

A very frightening scenario indeed .... but honestly, it’s only going to get worse, turn the tide now or be destroyed, we need to play “real hard ball” now.

Our enemies have never considered holidays to be sacred. Remember the Tet offensive?

I suspect we’ll know they have nuclear weapons when we wake up one morning to find that Israel is no longer there. Even then, I doubt that we will have any meaningful response.

Why would Congress block McCain and not Bush?

Because in ‘09 the RAT Senate will be filibuster proof. Whatever Harry and Nancy want to do will happen and not one Republican can stand in the way.

Our enemies have never considered holidays to be sacred. Remember the Tet offensive? Yep, and that was THEIR holiday.

Good one. LOL.
I have one: Can't they wait until after my golf trip to Palm Springs? Flying over on $300/barrel oil will be a pain!
On a serious note: Bomb Iran. Bomb Iran now. Bomb. Bomb. Bomb.
Bargaining with them is futile. As General McArther said: “for history teaches with unmistakable emphasis that appeasement but begets new and bloodier war. It points to no single instance where this end has justified that means, where appeasement had led to more than a sham peace.”
“Like blackmail, it lays the basis for new and successively greater demands until, as in blackmail, violence becomes the only alternative.”

You are exactly right.

Yeah, you’re right. I had temporarily forgotten that portions of Congress are up for election also.

Figured the headline was referring to the next Civil War on the Wednesay after Obama’s election.
To: PBRSTREETGANG
That may be a possibility, but I don’t foresee it as a probability.

We’re not going to do anything to Iran unless it strikes us first, and Iran knows that, so it’s perfectly free to posture as much as it wants.
Once it gets strong enough, it may strike - but then again, maybe not. If Osama Obama gets elected, we’ll probably be the United Muslims States of Iran within a couple of years anyway, so it’s to Iran’s best interests to sit back and wait.
If McCain, by some fluke, gets elected, they’ll resume their posturing for as long as they need to.

Setting the stage for a coming apocalyptic war that will usher in the Islamic Messiah known as the Mahdi or the "Twelfth Imam,"
All Muslims (not just Nutjob) believe the Mahdi will appear in the end times and kill all the infidels and convert the world to Islam. The 12th imam thing is a strictly Shi'a interpretation; they believe the Mahdi will be the 12th imam (while Sunnis believe he will be someone else). Muslims believe the world will end in the year 2076, and terrorism will only increase as that year draws nearer, as they want to "pave the way" for the Mahdi's coming. Iranian nukes are only the beginning of a coming, ugly confrontation with Islam.
For now though, if Israel strikes Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, & Syria will respond with a barrage of Scud-D's, Qassams, and Katyusha rockets (notice that name...it's Russian), and Shihab and Ashura lift off their launchpads and slam into Tel Aviv. If this happens before November and the voters know Bush supported Israel's strike on Iran, that will kill the GOP in the election.
Or, if no one acts and Iran gets the bomb, they'll nuke Israel anyway. Then they'll fire some nuke-tipped ICBMs across the Gulf right into the Saudi oilfields and oil will shoot up to $200+/barrel and gas prices will hit double digits. The Saudis, with either nukes bought from Pakistan or made with the enriched uranium we promised them (depending on how far into the future this happens), may respond by dropping some nukes of their own on Iran. And then there's Hormuz--Iran will try to shut it down, and then US warships will be there to stop them.
And remember hearing about wheat rust killing off a good portion of Iran's crops? Disrupting a country's food supply messes everything up. Wheat rust is easy to weaponize. All it takes is a US soldier next door in Iraq waving his burlap bag into the air....
And interestingly enough Iran may be starting its own
bioweapons program.
IRI has got to be the biggest thorn in the world's side. Thanks Jimmy Carter.
