A couple miles from house in Southaven. This is quite an oddity in my area. In the last couple of years this part of the Midsouth has had gators, manatees and now a bear.. Must be Global Warming lol...

They used to say “There’s no such thing as wild cats and mountain lions” in Kentucky too. When I was a child, about nine, I came face-to-face with a mama mountain lion. If it weren’t for my dad, I wouldn’t be here.

There’s wild critters everywhere, we just don’t always see them.

A black bear can be easily killed with a decent hand gun.. a grizzly or brown bear is entirely another matter.. You need a REAL GUN to slow down or even stop one of those critters..

I know of a Brown bear that had seven 9mm bullets in him for several days before he finally killed a forest ranger.. An adult Alaskan Brown bear is fully as big as a GMC Safari or Astro VAN.. You need a cannon to stop one of those.. Usually a 12 gage with slugs.. and at that with a good shot..

I lived in Horn Lake a couple years during my junior high years. Talk about amazing growth.

And speaking of out-of-place animals, there have been multiple sightings of a kangaroo on the Natchez Trace.

There have always been bear in Mississippi contrary to envirogaiawacko claims to the contrary

I have seen them myself near Steele Bayou (sons of Teddy’s teddy)

and at Lake Bruin Louisiana in Tensas.

Bears in Deep Dixie tend to be swamp lads.
