My Dragonfly And Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and me...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Here’s one for ya this morning:
To Z (he’s a friend I’m trying to encourage to write)
The poet pauses,
eyes growing distant with thought,
chasing the right word.
How sound becomes shape,
words, images of power,
melodic motion.
Pause long - it is gone
on gossamer wings of flight
unless you write it
And a response to a discussion about the poem:
Kotodama: Word Power
Ah, Kotodama,
sound shaping dreamscape
playing in mind’s ear!
(Kotodama is Japanese for a type of word magic. Here, it’s being used as a symbol for poetic power.
Once upon a time, in Ireland, poets were revered as powerful beings whose poems could hurt or heal. One master once was invited to a house where there was an infestation of rats. He started to speak a satire, and recited this line:
Rats have sharp snouts....
And before he could get to the next line, a dozen rats died.)
