“The Haunting” should have been on the list. One of the best scary movies of all time. “His Girl Friday”, too, although I admit I’m an unreasonable fan of Rosalind Russell. I love any movie she’s in.

I'm afraid I haven't heard of the show! But thanks anyway.

BTW, it's not in Mcqueens biography by Christopher Sandford (good read)

Keep smiling,

Philip

I’ll second Hud, The Hustler, and High Noon as contenders, and add the Preston Sturges comedy Hail the Conquering Hero.

High Times At Ridgemont High

That's "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" -- another egregious oversight from the "F" thread. (Freaky Friday - Lohan version - indeed!)

I did like the first couple of Harry Potter movies.

You're missing a lot of great Asian films in these lists! :-)

HIGH & LOW: One of the greatest detective films of all time, and almost no one in America has heard of it (Japan 1963, Kurosawa)

HARAKIRI: Great story of revenge over a ritual suicide (Japan 1961, Kobayashi)

THE HIDDEN FORTRESS: A military officer and two bumbling peasants rescue the lovely Princess Yuki. This was the inspiration for Star Wars (Japan 1957, Kurosawa)

THE HIDDEN BLADE: A samurai must make a moral choice when ordered to kill a rebellious friend, while earning the love of the beautiful servant girl Kie (Japan 2006, Yamada)

HERO: An assassin devises a complicated plot to kill the powerful King of Qin (China 2003, Zhang)

HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS: Two officers track down a beautiful blind rebel girl (China 2005, Zhang)

See my Freeper page for candidates for upcoming alphabetical lists! :-)

You are correct to mention Asian Cinema, of which has made some excellent inroads in the last decade after being “held back” by martial Arts movies for sooo long.
Internal Affairs 1-3, plus Old Boy come to mind straight away.

Liked it when I was younger, not sure why.

I liked it because the Rams finally win the Super Bowl! (And after a QB controversy, as always)

Although not quite up to “Howard the Duck” standards, Heaven’s Gate was supposed to be a big budget blockbuster.

Oh, and don’t forget “Hello, Dolly!”

COMBAT!.....1962-67. A squad in France 1944. Created by a WW2 dogface. Very good film-making.

Bronson and Coburn were the guest stars, McQueen was never on it. Other guest actors were James Caan, Telly Savalas, Lee Marvin, Mike Kellin, Sal Mineo, Mickey Rooney, Tom Tryon, Richard Jaekel, Richard Basehart, Jeff Chandler, Tab Hunter.....

Really good stuff.

Heaven’s Gate

I managed to track down a VHS version of this movie many years ago, and though long and drawn out, there are 2/3 scenes which I thought were classics, the best being the Ice Skating scene if my memory serves me well.

Although I still have the Cassette, I no longer own a VCR, so I can't double check.
