Ouch.

I was a Sophmore in HS when the Apollo program ended. I have never gotten over my anger at the termination of this program and the loss of the Engineers and knowledge base from Nasa.

Everytime I hear about "spending money for the starveing on earth first", I want to vomit. You know what I mean.

I was ecstatic when I read the headline, but then it soon dawned on me that it didn’t say ‘when Liberals left earth.’

Watching. I love these old NASA documentaries. I was a kid while all this was going on, and although I watched it live, my memories are vague.

It’s sharp and the picture is crisp but it’s still a 525 line format.

Much of today’s youth is just plain lazy, many have had everything handed to them. They are thirsty for nothing.
______

Sounds like you learned everything about today’s youth from the media.

I have 2 kids in the early to mid 20’s, and have known many of their friends from high school and college. They thirst for plenty, and are highly motivated.

Just my .02.

No, I did not learn it from the media.

I raised 4 that’s, four daughters, I have 6 grandchildren all achievers. They work and are college educated.

Thanks for your comments. ;0)

Just my opinion, and experience helps a bit.

sorry to get to this thread late. If you want to see liftoffs, get “The Mighty Saturns - Saturn 1 and Saturn 1B” & “The Mighty Saturns - Saturn V” from Spacecraft Films. They have some great views of those birds taking wing. Lots of pad level views and high speed photography. I’ve got the ENTIRE set Gemini and Apollo dvds for Spacecraft Films. Nothing but NASA footage from beginning to end. ALL of it is great.

Watching last night’s offering took me back to the heady days of spaceflight. I’ve never heard Sue Borman speak so that was neat. Seeing Gerald Carr, Frank Borman, Bill Anders, Joseph Kerwin, Bruce McCandless, and Jim Lovell was great. Glad they are still around.

Shortly after the Kibo Module was opened and the crews of STS-124 and ISS went in to have some fun, the CAPCOM said that it looked like the Skylab 500. I haven’t heard that term since Pete Conrad’s Skylab 2 crew used it. Nice to hear it again. Can’t wait to see the Shuttle segment of WWLE. The promo showed a shuttle liftoff with a clarity I’ve never seen. They used a PRETTY GOOD camera for that shot. I’m very impressed with the show. Just wish they wuld have lengthened it. There’s a lot if things that could have been included. No need to rush this presentation.

You can thank people like Fritz Mondale for gutting NASA.. From what I have understand he has been against the space program from the very beginning..

I don’t think today’s youth are any worse than back then. Remember that while these 20 somethings were putting a man on the moon a bunch of others were exchanging venereal diseases and making Haight-Ashbury smell bad. Every generation has its eagles and its mud skippers.
