I have to do something. She can't rack the slide on her Keltec 32 because of arthritis in her hands.

This is my personal choice:

Photobucket

I'm a fair shot with it, but I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with the snubnose.

My bedroom is not real small, but given the choice, I would initiate action with my 12 gauge. Of course I grew up inside a metal box with a .50 Caliber BMG M-2 Machinegun attached.

... at least mine won’t go down the block and take out an innocent .....

I would never finger the trigger of my .45 in defense until I knew it was my only option of survival and at that time it wouldn't cross my mind what was behind my immediate threat to my life.

It would stop the threat however.

I'm 6'2" @ 200lbs. which helps though...

If you’re smart, you won’t use a revolver for a Texas CHL course. Please use an auto. If you qualify with a revolver in Texas, you are limited to revolver. Qualify with an auto and you are licensed to carry either one.

The very first thing that came to mind when I read your post was, “Well how is she going to fire double action?” Perhaps it might be a better idea to get her a can of OC Spray to use as her first reaction. Can she cock a Chiefs Special okay?

Gosh, you need to do some heavy thinking on this subject. Get her on a day when her hands really hurt and ask her to dry fire a Chiefs Special five times. If she can’t do that then it is time to put the gray matter into high gear.

You might like the new extended 32 H&R magnum. It’s called .327 Magnum made by Federal. I think Ruger is making the revolvers.

You might have your wife try out a Beretta Tomcat. It has a tip-up barrel, which makes for easy chambering - no racking required. If her hands are small, the trigger might be a bit of a reach though.

With my S&W 642.

Nice!

I am dead on with the ol' S&W .38 special, however I'm approaching the same with my 5" Colt Government and have found that with proper (and simple) care, is as dependable as the .38 and is a very comfortable shooter.

Neither are a good conceal defensive tool however. The Colt Agent is best suited for that roll with me.

***Just for the fun of it, fire your .44 inside a small room with no hearing protection. That’s they way things will be if you ever use it at 3:00 AM.

When you get used to your new hearing aids do the same with a .38 and see if you notice a difference.***

No thanks, my hearing is kinda crappy as it is.

My Beretta is double action so the first round would take a bit of trigger pull, the next are more touchy. I use those rounds so be sure they wouldn’t go through the person and injure someone down the street ... it’s not like I go to weird places in Seattle but people have been mugged in nicer areas ... I do not intend to become a victim .....

I fired one like that when I was twelve years old and got wrist lock. Like someone had smacked my hand with a bat.

Snoopy flew a Sopwith Camel.

Cool page; congratulations on getting into Embry-Riddle.

How old are you that you’re qualified on turbines if I might ask?

Huh?

My .38 snubbie goes in my pocket, on my belt, inside my waist band and on my ankle. My big auto (Glock) is severely limited.

"I’m 5’5 at 110lbs ... I carry a Beretta Tomcat in .32cal with Glaser Safeties in one magazine and the other has Hydra-shocks. I’m not to be messed with. I read where the average gun fight range was 8 to 12 feet (California Highway Patrol research) - at that range it doesn’t matter if you have 357 magnums or what I carry ... at least mine won’t go down the block and take out an innocent ....."

I love it when you talk dirty ...
