It’s been a while since I’ve seen a Colt. Looking good.
For what it is worth...I once convinced 8 guys to leave me alone with my S&W 22/32 kit gun. Yes, it was just a .22 with only 6 rounds - but no one wanted to be first. Since I had fired thousands of rounds thru it, I wasn’t likely to miss...so they made a good decision.
She does okay with a loaded pistol. Mine just don’t have safeties. Makes it dangerous.
LOL
>at least mine wont go down the block and take out an innocent .....<
Study up on frangible ammunition. That’s what I carry. It won’t go through someone but it will make four blood paths for the doctors to sew up, if they can keep the thug alive that long.
>Makes it dangerous.<
Huh?
Your trigger finger is the best and final safety.
My .38 snubbie goes in my pocket, on my belt, inside my waist band and on my ankle. My big auto (Glock) is severely limited.
I was referencing a S&W .38 special long barrel which I am dead on with...
When it comes to self defense, IMO accuracy is a lesser concern considering the proximity of the threat before one makes the decision to actually take a life to save their own.
It's great at the range however. ; )
PSST, if you carry on your ankle for self defense, not only are you limited because of proximity of your tool, you are uncomfortable carrying it there. IMO.
41 oz with 4” barrel is more weight than this old man wants to lug around but I’ll go shooting with you anytime.
It only goes on the ankle as a BUG.
LOL!
Ahh, let them run with it! /snicker
I’d rather carry a subcompact auto, a .40 or a 9mm. Of course this would be for conceal carry. My main preference in a pistol is a .45 auto. I love my HK USP Tactical.

I don’t follow you. IMO, the closer the threat the more important accuracy becomes. If there is some thug who is all whacked out on the latest and greatest drug(s) who has a knife in his hand and is six feet away from me threatening to do severe bodily injury to me or my wife, I want to be able to put four rounds into his face as rapidly as possible. I am not going to waste time with mass targeting, this is the real thing and I want to put every round in the center of this upper face.
That is one of my most often practiced targets, day and night. 10, 7, and 4 feet distance,
Consider a North American Arms .22 Mag.
It’s a tiny single action 5 shot revolver. It weighs almost nothing and cocks and fires easily.
People will mock the .22 Mag but the first rule of gunfighting is: have a gun.
A .22 Mag that she will carry and can shoot will do more for her than a .38 she will be tempted to leave home or can’t shoot if she has it with her.
I got one as a summer gun because I can put it in the pocket of a pair of short pants when it’s 106 degrees and nobody knows it’s there. But I can bust a cap on a thug before he knows I’m strapped.
I now carry it summer and winter. I slip it in my pocket when I put my money and wallet in my other pockets and it is never in the way. Nor am I tempted to leave it at home “just to run to the store” like I was with bigger heavier guns.
In your wife’s situation, it may be just the gun she needs.
Yes, good idea.
I like them both but I am more comfortable with and have greater confidence in the .357 revolver. It's better for concealed carry at 19.5 ozs. and holds seven rounds. The barrel is ported so recoil is minimized, even with .357 vice .38Spec,I can hardly tell the difference.
I'm an "old fart" at 69 years old,so my eyesight isn't what it used to be,but with this gun I can confidently shoot three inch groups at 25 yards.
The 1911 is fun too,but I think I just have more trust in my abilities with the wheelgun.
6 feet, Adrenalin flowing, life in danger, shoot for survival...
You honestly think that you are going to take the time to think and aim?
It's a nice thought and kudos to you if you can.
I tote a tool of defense with an external safety on the body of it (not on the trigger) however, it's automatic for me without thinking to "flick and shoot", however 6' away, life threatened, last resort, a second to decide, I am not going to be aiming at the threat or miss the threat's profile desired target area and that's not the face....
Glazer Safeties are like that ... so where would I get frangible ammunition? What would be the difference? Frangible ammo is what an air martial would carry ..... right?
