Things you never want to do. Comcast will pay through the nose for this!

I find it amazing that cable companies continue to act in such a way as to give out lottery wins to disgruntled customers.
I forget, are lawyers still more hated than cable companies, or has it finally happened that lawyers have the ability to say “Well, at least we’re not them.”

Pictiure? It's in our best interest NOT to post a pic if you find it.
I have been looking for it, but to no avail.

Let me get this sraight...
She sends a check that is clearly intended as a joke and then is offended when they publish her 'joke'?
Did they blot out the numbers? What's her complaint?

Actually, if this woman wants to play hardball with lawsuits, she'd better watch herself. Comcast can attempt to cash the check, which of course no bank will pay, then file a Federal complaint against her for mail fraud (most checks are deliverd for clearing or return via US mail, and courts have ruled that mail fraud statutes apply in this sort of situation many times).
Can't imagine this woman wants any part of that charge, can you?

I don’t think she sent it as a joke, it was more of a “screw you” check (imagine being told you would be charged, for example, $99 for all three services and getting your first bill for $137)
No, they didn’t blot out the numbers and they put it up on a publicly accessable site.
To: raybbr
they published her banking information including account number and routing info..(which was on the copy of the check)

Sorry I got no real sympathy for her. While it wrong to publish the numbers she is to blame for her own recklessness.

As much as everyone likes to hate Comcast, I don’t think it was “they” as in Comcast that published her information. Most likely one or two employees that did it. She should sue them but “they” probably don’t have the big payout she’s looking for.
To: raybbr
Sure she has to bear some responsibility, but they are going to lose in court and pay her plenty. This is a fairly common occurrence with most cable companies. They don't know the first thing about customer service or about being honest with their billing.
That's what happens when you establish government sponsored monopolies on a particular service. I haven't had cable for 8 years now because I refuse to do business with the thieving con-men who run the cable company in my town.
This is why satellite providers are cleaning up in a lot of areas.

When Comcast had the mail delivered, the check was in their possession and control. If they allowed an employee to take the check and do personal things with it, then they were negligent in making sure that her banking information was secured.
Comcast will be paying her big bucks for their sloppy handling of a customer's financial information.

I've seen a number of busniess publicly post bogus checks at the cash register, perhaps as a reminder to the cashier and general public.
