I love bagels but only toasted I find them too dry unless toasted.
Having said that Arsenal football club used to have a stand with smoked salmon and mayo bagels and they were lovely. I think they are slightly different bagel recipe to the ones that the Supermarket have that seem more dense and are probably designed to toast.
I actually prefer ASDA’s own to the other brand they have which they call New York Bagels I doubt they are anything like a New York Bagel. Is this just an English copy or is there actually a company or brand called New York Bagels sold in the States?

Another thing I have noticed recently probably since more and more people from Britain have visited the States and enjoyed your breakfasts that many items that were normally associated with teatime or mid morning or afternoon or even late snack are now marketed as breakfast items. Among these are waffles, muffins and crumpets and of course American style pancakes.

It is my understanding that a New York Bagel is a type of bagel based on the ingredients and the way it is “cooked”.
