3 dead in Nevada bar shooting

Three men were fatally shot and two other people were injured early Sunday at a bar in the northern Nevada town of Winnemucca, police said, and the shootings may have stemmed from a longstanding feud between several local families.
Winnemucca Police Chief Bob Davidson said a man entered Players Bar and Grill and fatally shot two members of a rival family before he was shot and killed by a patron. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
The deceased shooter was identified as Ernesto Villagomez, 30, of Winnemucca. The other deceased men were identified as Jose Torres, 20, and his brother, Margarito Torres, 19, both of Winnemucca.
A 34-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were listed in stable condition with gunshot wounds at the Winnemucca hospital. Their names weren't immediately released.
Sunday's shooting may have been in retaliation for an earlier drive-by shooting involving the families in the town of about 8,000 located 160 miles northeast of Reno, Davidson told Reno's KRNV-TV.
The 48-year-old patron from Reno who killed the shooter was initially taken into custody as a person of interest, but was later released after Humboldt County District Attorney Russell Smith determined the shooting was justifiable homicide.
The patron was in possession of a valid concealed weapons permit issued by the Washoe County Sheriff's office, Davidson said.
While the shootings occurred during the town's annual Runnamucca motorcycle rally, there's no evidence linking them to any rival motorcycle gangs or clubs, Davidson said.
About 300 people were inside the bar at the time.
The case is under investigation.
Double Down ping!
Wouldn't matter anyway; the anti-gun crowd has convinced most businesses of all sorts to post the red circle-slash over gun signs.
As I told the principal of my son's school, they've just advertised themselves as a free fire zone.
In Texas those signs are worthless. They just mean you can’t have an unlicensed handgun.
CT permit isn’t honored there.
Exceptions are airport *buildings*, Federal buildings, any building with a metal detector at all entrances, courthouses, prisons, jails, police stations, and schools/colleges (without authorization).
Everywhere else, you're legal. Private property can post signs prohibiting CC on their premises, but you're only obligated to leave if they ask you to vacate the premises.
Acquire a Utah permit if NV doesn’t recognize CT’s permit.
You guys are lucky. Here, those signs get you at least one night in jail and a call to your attorney.
I assume you mean the school has been declared a gun free zone?
Here’s another *great* story out of NV.

Exactly.
Or, my alternate theory... they do know that those signs mean nothing, but they are just doing it for the sake of the sheeple who don't know what's going on.
Ernesto Torres? Is there anything mentioned (of course not) about their being citizens? Immigration status, plueeez?
In Pennsylvania, the only place your CCW is not allowed is airports and schools and that’s a federal law. It used to be courthouses but this was recently shot down (pun intended) by the state supreme court and the courthouses cannot completely ban firearms on their premises.
An excerpt from another report (RGJ):
Villagomez then started walking toward the middle of the bar before suddenly collapsing to the floor. Hayes later found out that Villagomez was shot by a 48-year-old customer from Reno who was carrying a concealed handgun. Authorities declined to release the Reno man’s name, only saying that the man had a valid permit to carry a concealed weapon. The man was released after authorities ruled the death a justifiable homicide.
“He was just some random guy in jeans and a shirt who happened to be there,” Hayes said. “I was just glad that there was somebody there who was able to help us out.”
'rival families'....yea....right.
Thank God for an armed citizen.

“As I told the principal of my son’s school, they’ve just advertised themselves as a free fire zone. “
In this age lacking of reason, that is all the principal needs to have the authorities pick you up for threatening to go postal on the school.
Don’t laugh, it could happen.
bttt
For clarification that involves concealed carry. You can and I often do open carry in many places in the State. Some cops get excited but it is legal. KG9 I walked into the store in Empire during Burning-man with a 1911 on my hip covered in antelope blood, I wish I had video off all of those drug infested burners looks. A couple of them took exception to the dead antelope on the top of my Tahoe and the Washoe County Sheriff’s just laughed at them and came over to admire the horns. BTW I would not recommend it in Vegas or Reno unless you have a lot of time on your hands. They will hook you up and run checks on you and then release you if you are clean, that could take hours.
