Congratulations to the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins!
Two great teams who have earned the chance to hoist Lord Stanley's Cup!
There are a multitude of stories on the NHL website - http://www.nhl.com/
And on the Red Wings website - http://redwings.nhl.com/
And on the Penguins website - http://penguins.nhl.com/
This promises to be one of the greatest series in NHL history! Something for those who don't usually watch!
So spread the word, and do your part to recruit a new fan or two!
It sure is quiet in here. Welcome to HOCKEY TOWN USA!!
Pittsburgh is a pretty good young talented team but is really no match for the Red Wings—dare I say it? Detroit in a sweep...Penguins might win one, maybe......
We shall see, it is a long series. Goal scoring is like virginity: once you get the first, the rest comes easily.
The cities and teams involved hate the loss of revenue from short series, too.
If(when) Detroit goes up 3-0, then they’ll let the Pens win game 4 so they can close it out at home in game 5.
Are you proud of yourself? Being mouthy after one win?
Are you looking forward to watching these things with a slingbox? Your team was off tonight. They’ll have to come back strong on Monday. I still think this will be a great series.
No, not proud of myself, just proud of the Red Wings. I like the Pens too, I just like the Red Wings and Sharks more.
Detroit played great, while the Pens looked rusty and a bit overwhelmed.
Hopefully they’ll play better on Monday.
Otherwise it will be a short series.
Hell yeah! Welcome to Hockey Town!
Wings 4 --- Pens.....ZIP!
Long series? Three more games?.................
Go Wings!
I hate the Pens. I remember the last time they won the Cup in '92 some Pens fanatics were working in the same office as me and they were the most obnoxious bunch I ever saw.
Hey! Pens fans! Get ready to lose game 2.
Next time I play hockey if somebody has a Pens jersey on I'm gonna line him up and............
Wings #33 Kris Draper and Pens #55 Sergi Gonchar about to collide.
It’s not really the Pens fault. It’s just that the Wales Conference is kinda the junior conference, so the Pens don’t play enough games against good teams in the Campbell. The Sharks, and the Flames, would probably beat the Pens in 7. The Stars(boo hiss) would probably beat the Pens in 6.
The problem that the Pens have with the Wings is depth. The Pens did everything they could to contain Datsuk and Zetterberg, but the Wings are so deep that even their grind line is dangerous. The Wings showed that they can contain Crosby, Hossa, and Malkin...who’s left? Now add Franzen and Chelios back into the mix and it gets really ugly.
Don’t go ordering rings just yet!
This ain’t over by a long shot. The Penguins have shown time and time again that losing a game motivates them immensely.
I expected to split the series in Detroit, so let’s see what happens on Monday.
I believe in my team!
Don’t get too cocky. The Pens were not getting the bounces. Dupuis hit the post on a shot that could have tied the score at one and led to a different game altogether. Therrien was playing with line combinations and as the visiting team is at a disadvantage in getting the matchups he wants.
Game 3 will be interesting. The boards in Mellon aren’t as active as the ones in the Joe, and that may help Fleury. Then again, I don’t think the problem was Fleury; he looked pretty good in the game. Also, the Pen fans are equally as rabid as the Wing fans, so that may help too. Speaking of Therrien, he looked like he was dazed and confused during the press conference...like a whipped puppy. It will be interesting to see how he changes things for game 2. Oh, yes, Dupuis hit the post, but so did Draper. Actually, he hit both posts and the whole crossbar! Then there was the extremely questionable goalie interference call on Holstrom that negated a goal. So it could have just as easily been 6-0 or 6-1.
