Resembling a strange creature from the deep, this rare marbled iceberg was spotted in the waters of the Antarctic by a Norwegian sailor.
Rainbow iceberg in the Antarctic
Oyvind Tangen, 62, was on board the research ship G O Sars when he photographed the unusual ice formation, floating a few miles off the coast of the frozen continent.
While most icebergs are white due to tiny bubbles trapped inside, which scatter the light in every direction, some pick up a multitude of colours due to various natural phenomena.
Green stripes are the result of algae growing in the ice, while brown, black and yellow lines form as the ice sheets from which bergs are formed pick up layers of sediment.
Article continuesadvertisement Deep blue lines can also appear when the air bubbles are squeezed out due to rapid melting and re-freezing of the ice.
You aren't the same "Ralph" from Green Acres, are you?
LOL! No. I’m a woman, with a dog’s (screen)name.

Dang! ............ It’s been so cold this last winter that it frooze a rainbow? Al aint going to like this news.
Kewl.
We have several seasons on DVD and play them regularly and still laugh. They just don’t write shows like that any more.
LOL! My eldest’s name is Mary Grace. I had no idea- honest!
Actually, I do remember the show but I never watched it. I liked the theme song, though and I would sit through that and then change the channel.
Bush’s fault or global warming or some such .....
OK, where’s tourist guy because this is as much of a fake as that supposed huge wild boar the kid hunter shot a while back.
I'm just the opposite: didn't care much for the theme song after awhile but loved the show. Great old time country humor. Brilliant writers, terrific cast selection.
Rest in peace all of you, and thank you for helping brighten up so many days. (I think Eb and Mr. Drucker are the only ones still alive)
I went to the site and looked through the cast. Back when writers knew how to write, I’m sure.
At least where I am (New York City) it’s currently airing Saturday mornings at 8ET on TV-Land (a single half-hour episode).
