29% Want Clinton To Run As Independent (Vanity Confirmed!)
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 5/14/08 | Patrick1

Posted on 05/14/2008 2:19:11 PM PDT by Patrick1

Well Rasmussen has a poll that says 29% want her heinous to run as an Independent. A thought I put forward over a month ago on this very same Free Republic. (Applause Appreciated) Granted Rasmussen only missed the West Virginia primary results by sixteen points but hey these days polls are the news.

So what about it? Is her ego so large her bitterness so great that she would make the run? Could she bribed out of it with a payoff of her debt, VEEP spot, or maybe ambassador to China?

A discussion is going on at Redstate.com on this subject but why should they have all the fun.

Well, even if she didn’t win it would assure a McCain win which she needs for 2012.

True. But would make a nomination for the Democrat Party in 2012 virtually impossible. Think Ross Perot as the GOP nominee in 1996. Not likely.

The question for me would be is it not Hillary who has the messiah complex that would want her to lead her followers into year long combat?

You have something there. Rational thought would dictate (as noted by a poster below) that she could NEVER EVER EVER get the dem. nom. in 2012 after such a stunt. But... 1. Her ego would not allow her to believe that she didn’t have a shot. 2. She just MIGHT have a shot in 2012 because millions of dumb ass dems still think the clintons are worshipped by millions of Americans.

If she had money, she might, but she’s broke.

Good point. And her Chi-Com moneymen may have been hurt by the earthquake. But the Clintons always seem able to come up with the cash. Her ego wouldn’t let some little thing like money get in the way of a crusade.

Hell hath no fury...and she is big-time scorned.

I hope she does it. She got railroaded by her party. Stick it to them.

I bet she would still win NY in a 3-way race. But McCain is going to be the next POTUS anyway, because Obama is a mess.

Let’s see. The Dems would have Senator Obama with two other Liberal Independents — Nader - Green Party and Senator Clinton as an Independent.

The Pubs would have Senator McCain and Bob Barr? What is Ron Paul going to do?

Wow, so many selections, so many possibilities.

There is one scenario that could playout. She stays in until the convention and it is clear that Hussein is a loser against McCain, can’t win Dem states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania and has no hope of taking Florida or Ohio. The party has to nominate him anyway because he is black and the Dems are all about feelings over facts. So they nominate George McGovern the second.

Hillary to the rescue.

She still has a chance to pull out the Dem nomination.

Neither candidate has attained the magic number, yet.

If neither has it going into the Convention, those delegates are only bound on the first round voting.

If she survives that with a deadlock, it would be open season on delegates for the 2nd round.

==

There was a slight chance that she could get Edwards to send his delegates to her. Apparently, per another thread today, she didn’t come up with the right price. Edwards is to announce his support of Obama.

That could be the final nail.

==

I doubt she runs as an independent, as that would require money and organization to get her on the ballots in the various states. With her campaign in debt some $20 million, it is doubtful she would finance the run herself.

She has been saying that if Obama wins she will be in the stands cheering him on and working for his election...
The idea of her running as an independent would pull he dems apart..the Hillary supporters will stay with her, the ones for Obama will stay there and McCain?
Now what do we do with a 3 way tie?

A Clinton wouldn’t lie now would they?

It wouldn’t be a three way tie. Under such a scenario I would give you another accurate prediction,

McCain 42% Osama 39% Hillary 19%

Same as in 1992 come to think of it..LOL.
