I can see how that would work out pretty darn good. “Storm Home”. I like it.
Looks like it’s in nice shape. Did you put it somewhere where there are NO trees, or at least next to something tall enough to that the trees will hit that and not your Storm Home?
This is the Leupold scope with the Docter red dot sight peeking out between the windage and elevation turrets. The idea is to have a backup electronic sight for quick close-in shots by rolling the rifle to bring the Docter to the 12 o'clock position. It will be interesting to zero it at 50 yards. I'm thinking of a 200-yard zero for the "real" scope.
I was also tempted by (and succumbed to) GG&G's new bipod. While the rifle came with the tried-and-true Harris bipod, I wanted to see how this new one works out. Here are the two, side by side:
They are both the same size and weight, but the Harris is a bit more compact when it's stowed. The GG&G requires you to reach up to each leg and press the lock button to swing the leg down, rather than just swatting back the legs on the Harris, since they're spring loaded. Both bipods allow for a limited amount of cant to be applied.
Altogether, the nearly complete configuration (I'm still pondering a new sling) looks like this:
At 16 lbs, 14 ounces, the rile is about a pound lighter than the old HK91 warhorse. I guess all that aluminum and plastic let them put on the bull barrel and still save a tiny bit of weight. This is not Gene Stoner's 7-lb AR15, or even his AR10.
And, on closeout, I bought a Blackhawk padded scope cover.
I've used these on other rifles, because I'm paranoid about my optics. The cover stays on until I'm settled in at the firing line. And the handle sewn on top is a handy way to carry the rifle short distances.
Now if I can just find the time to zero it in before winter....
I LOL every time I watch a show where the "sniper" looks through the scope then fiddles with the cross hair settings...

Quiet the 3 gun match rig friend...... I use the Harris Bipod due simple fact that it deploys faster for me albeit I haven’t tried the GG&G bipod. Mine has a small length of 550 cord w/ ends tied to each pod and a quick pull brings em down as I drop to prone. And my docter is fixed at 2 O’clock position so I only have to roll the top scope turret to the 10 O’clock Position. Your Docter appears to be in same position . Difference is I don’t have the target turrets on my Leupold 10X Ultra. I use a pre printed data card with my mil-dots versus dialing in my enemy sod poodle’s.....:o)

That's the plan! It's not here yet, we'll have it by Tuesday or Wednesday. Then the plan is to clean and stock it with our stuff, and park it out in a clear spot where we can sit and keep watch on everything. :~)
I tell ya, it's comforting to me to just know it's going to be out there. Just a few contingencies to be worked out now.
Don't get me started on Hollywood. (Actually, you did.)
One of my biggest gripes is the use of sound effect of 9mm brass hitting a concrete floor. Tinkle, tinkle, tinkle... They use it all the time, even when it's totally off the wall.
I remember when I had time to go to the movies. I was watching "Patriot Games", and after one bad guy shot the other, you could hear the tinkling of 7.62 (9mm) brass bouncing around on the sand. That took me so much by surprise that I blurted out "GMAFB", and was told to keep my opinions to myself.
Other gripes include the "click, click" sound of hundreds of safeties being removed (deafening, if it was AK47s), as opposed to the "old days" of everybody thumbing back the hammers of their SA and DA revolvers to show that they really meant business.
And what is probably a 100-year-old tradition in Hollywood, the "figure 8" view through binoculars. I think I only saw one movie where they got that right.
On the upside, this is what the left uses for weapons training.
Good Evening All; got Jackson Silver on the top of the computer desk, Scampi Annie is upstairs. Club gunshow today. Got some good deals on magazines. In order to keep the karma flowing I only bought three of the rimfire and two of the centerfire, That left about six and four for the others. We’ll see if any are left for the next show.
Been working on the house stuff, used stain and poly on the new windows and today washed all the storm windows. Unstuck three windows, unfortunately cracked one. sigh. I was doing real good up to that point.
The house is really looking good, the great paint out of 2008 will continue tomorrow.

Well Sara Palin appeared at The Villages, about 8 miles from me. It was 90 degrees and quite humid. The tri county area surrounding The Villages has about 500,000 people, and about 20,000 people got tickets and were let inside the security fence. About 40,000 more were outside the fence, watching jumbo TV sets. I didn’t go because it was too hot and too crowded. Not bad for a VP candidate not in a major metropolitan are.
Never fear, Hollywood movie magic is here. It's probably a plastic prop, with a semi-appropriate sound effect inserted. Movies also use airsoft guns a lot.
It's very expensive to rent "live" weapons and armorers. Often there can be no exception to actual firing of real weapons. The movie or TV show will rent a friendly range, and try to get all the possible shots of stars and extras shooting the necessary weapons. There's no way yet to create special effects with real muzzle blast, real recoil, and real brass being ejected.
I was watching some extra materials from Stargate SG1. Richard Dean Anderson was talking about how much pleasure he got from the live-weapons sessions. Then, the gun-grabbing-moron his is, he added that nobody should have guns.
And that scope mount is a GG&G one-piece QD mount. It's only made in 30mm, as far as I know.
Have you thought of setting some anchors in concrete, and tying the trailer down? Or will the horses be in that field, and pose a danger to them?
We could, but I don’t think we NEED to... our bad wind storms are 40-60. Our really big one two years ago we had gust to 80. We rode that out in the truck... we don’t get the kind of winds that can pick up trucks and trailers, just the kind that can topple tall firs, particularly if their feet are muddy.
Still, you might want to at least aim the nose of the trailer into the general direction that storm winds come from. That's a big side area that shouldn't be broadside to heavy wind, if you can avoid it.
