Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
~snif~
such a beautiful snaig
Heh...yer gettin’ the idea.
I don’t know what they’re thinking, but I was hoping for sort of a Gandalf meets “The Santa Clause” meets “Northern Exposure” kind of look.
When I started doing the Holly Fair, I started collecting St. Nick figures, and I lean toward the Bishop of Myra, or Victorian Father Christmas look, with the long robe, rather than the Thomas Nast, jolly old fat man, design. The first one I bought was a hand-painted wooden one, and he has a long light blue robe; it is beautiful.
LOL! That outfit reminds me of my mother. She LOVED to crochet, and we must have 10 afghans or bedspreads that she did for us, or for one of the kids. She did a bedspread for SirKit and me that ended up so heavy, we couldn’t use it! It’s nice for a decorative look, but you can’t sleep under it!
Well, this costume needs to be more Victorian. But the guy who did it last time had his own costume made. It was bright red and looked more like a Cardinal than Father Christmas.
I chose the burgundy and hunter green color combo, cause I liked it, and I was going for something more Victorian looking.
I’m thinking that they wanted a splash of red on the stage. We’re more historically “representative” than historically “accurate.”
We spent all morning at a McCain/Palin rally.
Talon is supposed to post a thread and pictures. It was fun, especially the protesting teenage girls being hauled off by police.
Now I have to work.
We missed our rally Wednesday evening; we had church stuff. A conservative co-worker and his wife tried to go but got there late and couldn’t get in despite having tickets. Oh, bother, said Pooh.
Shouldn’t they have been in school?
They might have been college students. It’s hard to tell with young unwashed hippy chicks. Plus there were at least some high school students in the crowd from schools in the area.
And lots of homeschoolers. We saw a pair of moms - one with 6, one with 9! - and a lot of other “hmm, they might be” families too.
Oh, vey cool!! Is the robe red or dark green? The garment underneath it looks gold.
WooHoo! Can’t wait to see the pictures!
It’s a forest green. I’m not to fond of the gold underneath. A little too sparkly.
I think the sparkle of the gold will be mitigated somewhat by the deep green. It’s very nice, and should look great up on stage, and on video.
That’ll make you look right Elfish.
